Power Steering Pump Question

On my 1973 Mustang, how far should the power sterring pump pulley go upon the power sterring pump. Right now it makes a shreeking noise in the upper RPM's (2500 and up). Did it just go bad, even though i just bought it?

I assume the PS pully should be reasonably even with the fan pully, but when I look at mine it appears the PS pully is slightly foward of the fan pully by about 1/2".
