It's time to replace my worn out power steering pump. What pump are you guys having good luck with that doesn't whine too much?

I just replaced my pump (and complete steering system) and i bought a remanufactured Motorcraft pump from RockAuto and shipped them back my core. Works like a charm, no whining whatsoever.

I used the Motorcraft Type F proper PS fluid. I'd have to go search through my thread for the exact P/N, but it was a red bottle of Ford specific power steering fluid. I bought a case of like 5 or 6 quarts, I could ship a quart or two to you if needed. They are buried in my garage at the moment during my home remodel so it might take me a second to get to them.

Yes Sir…
Ford Motorcraft Type F
Sku# 0 31508 09558 8
If your local store can’t get it, CARid.com has it in stock (6.71 per quart) Item # mpn4704298800.
Sorry I cannot answer the quantity of quarts question though.

Not that it is completely helpful-but I’ve always filled my New/Used Ford power steering pumps with Lucas Trans fix. Keeps new pumps quite and wore out old pumps quite for awhile

While I like to use Type F in old school PS pumps, when I had my rack rebuilt by Turn one ( not cheap) they recommended the best Synthetic fluid I could find...

Should I replace the hoses while I'm at it?

Is this the correct Motorcraft part number? Says it does not fit my car.

That should be the one. I bought mine from RockAuto as a reman, but it shows the same P/N:

More Information for MOTORCRAFT STP25RM

Look at the top left you'll see that same P/N listed.
