How many of ya'll would recommend putting in power steering? I'm in high school and this is my car for a daily driver so I'm wondering will I eventually be dying for power steering?(havent started driving yet)...What would ya'll recommend? Because power steering kits cost a fortune what should i do?

Power steering takes horsepower away from the rear wheels. The original systems were very kludgy and have poor road feel. There are many people who have removed their power steering systems due to leaks and lack of feel. When I bought my first 67 while I was in college it did not have power steering and I did not give it a second thought. However the car was only 5 years old at the time. Now that the car is 30+ years older, along with the driver I'm going to install power steering on my current Mustang. Bottom line - you're young and strong like a bull - you do not need power steering.

I actually prefer manual steering. It does take a bit of effort turning when you're going under 5 mph and don't even bother trying to turn the wheel if the car isn't moving. But even with bad wrists, I can still manage it.

My first 67 in college did not have power and the 67 I have now does have power. I prefer the feel of the non power 67 MUCH MUCH better than with power. I can not feel the road on the highway and overall it just feels loose - even with a complete front end rebuild. Besides having a much cleaner look under the hood you won't have to deal with burning hoses on headers or leaks in the driveway. Drive your car for a while and then drive one with powersteering and you will see you are not missing anything.

i completely agree i had powerstreering on my 67 and well its sstill there but the bolt broke off in the head and now i can mount it to the motor or keep a belt on it. i will be taking it off and giving it back to my dad for his fastback cuz hes old and likes it. the manual does definitly let u feel the road more and if ur the type of person that drives because u want to and not because its faster than walking i think ull agree.
