OH YEAH IT DOES! I did that once by mistake and the bearing siezed up on me. The hydraulic fluid also acts as a lubricant.

Yup. Pump and control valve suffer.

i just got a new pump installed about a week ago. hit a hug pot hole the other day and snapped one of the pressure lines....will driving without the fluid for....maybe say 4 days mess up my pump? cuz that new pump wasnt cheap!

Probably will wreck it.

Can you pull the belt off? That should get you by for a few days.

Not if the belt shares the water pump

It's alright bottlefed. I'm pretty sure our 70's came with electric water pumps so we don't understand

Lol... I can never remember which accessories share which belts.

As for the 70's, they are super-engines that don't even need cooling. :SNSign:
