Okay, I think my dipstick snapped off and got sucked into my power steering pump somehow, because it's gone and my pump makes a horrific screaming noise under any load. I flushed the system with clean fluid last weekend but that didn't do anything for the noise, so I figure I need a new pump. Looking at it, I'm guessing I'll need a pulley puller. Any special things to know about those, or are they pretty much universal? I'll probably get it at Autozone. I'm gonna try to pull a pump at the JY and try to rebuild it, any tips on that? People look at my car from a hundred yards away when I crank the wheel, it's not cool. :(

Pulley pullers are universal. :) And they work well. :D The JY pump is definitely gonna need a rebuild, the fluid is black. :barf: Still doesn't smell as staticy as my current one does, though, so I figure the hard parts inside are still good. Any suggestions on a solvent to use to clean it when I take it apart? And, what's a good way to get the pulley back on? Seems like it'd need to be pressed, but since it has to be in the car when it goes back together, there's gotta be another way. What be it?

To get the pulley back on there is a special bolt with a nut on it. You can get them at any part's store. Be careful when removing the pulley, The tip on the break fairly easy. Dont forget to blead the system when done. Good luck
