Power Window Wont Go Up

The drivers side power window suddenly stopped working. It's stuck in the down position. Passenger side works normally. When I try the drivers side switch, the volt gauge on the dash shows current movement. So, my guess is the motor.

Is it likely the motor or is there something else I can check? Meanwhile, is there a way to get back up until I get parts to fix it?

properly the motor, manual press both hand together and move the glass up, might take a bit of strenght, btw, check the weather see what date is raining. good luck.

Pull the door panel and loosen the motor bolts. Hit the switch and see if the motor turns. If so check the window to see if it popped the track. My passenger window does this all the time. If that's the issue put the website back in the track tighten the bolts and roll the window back up.

I took of the door panel and got to the motor harness. I unplugged it and fed 12v directly to the motor harness. It arced but did nothing. I then swapped wire position of my 12v source and the the motor worked. Window went up like it should. Swapped the feed again and the window came down. Hooked the door switch back up and it works perfectly again.

Is this the bad motor brush thing that might revisit again? Can a motor that's worn work intermittently? Should I go ahead and just replace the motor?

BTW, if I do change the motor, do I pull it out through the speaker hole?

No. Unbolt it and it will drop straight out.

If the switch were bad, then the volt gauge would not show a voltage drop on my initial test. That's what I has said in my initial post but maybe I wasn't clear enough.

And like I said, initially, the motor didn't work with battery directly feeding it. After a few tries and some arcing, it started working. That's why I think maybe intermittent problem with motor.

Scour the jy for a new motor. Before you do that are you sure that the window wasn't in fact binding and causing resistance?

Thanks. I got a motor on order. Picking it up tomorrow.

Got the new window motor in. Working great. The old one had a lot of play in the gear. It would rotate back and forth about 3/8".
