Power Windows

Anybody done power electric windows?

What kit did you install? Does it work? Would you do anything different?

I used the kit sold by Mustang Unlimited, they are excellent.
fitting them was really easy (sorry no pictures, but can take some).

now my driver window DO close correctly, where before it never did.

I've got power windows and power door locks and highly reccomend them both. I got both kits and the switches from A-1 Electric - http://a1electric.com/classics.htm - and was very pleased.

The power window kit installation is very straight forward. The hardest (most time consuming) part was running all of the electric wire.

Out with the old window regulator, in with the new. The new electric regulator just bolted right in. The install was very easy and the windows work great.

The hardest part was the wiring. Also, now that I don't need a window crank, I'm mounting a tweeter, for my component speakers, in the hole in my door panel.

I mounted the switches in my console. They're tied into the gauge lighting circuit, so when I turn the lights on they illuminate.

Also, I tied my power door locks into my car alarm system - Lock/Alarm and Unlock/Disarm alarm.

I bought mine from Electric life as well. I also put the GM style rocker switch on the center console for a cleaner install. I also used a quick disconnect at the door jams to make future door removal less painfull.

I like the console installation. Do the switches fit tightly? How did you cut the hole, with a dremel?

Has anyone tried these universal power window kits? I live very far from the states and shipping on the power regulators would be more than the regulators themselves. Tell me what you know about the universal power window kits they sell on ebay? I was considering the autoloc version, but have included 2 other types also below. Autoloc was great for my import racer but want to hear some stories before I decide on which one to do.

Haven't tried them in my Mustang but my son had one of them in his MR2. I don't think they would work in a Mustang because the regulator doesn't have anything on it to be driven, other than the crank, and its gear is totally shrouded. The kits specifically for Mustang have the motor right on the regulator teeth.
