Powerdyne question...keep breaking internal belt

Don't listen to him. they don't suck. While I've never had to deal with their customer service, I can talk about what is under my hood.

Powerdynes customer service is less than stellar, and it does take forever for repairs. When I sent my charger to 928 Motorsports I had it back in 12 days.

I had my powerdyne rebuilt by 928 Motorsports. I had the race rebuild done. It was 600$ bucks, and the rebuild came with bearing that will handle 60,000 rpms max with a normal operating rpms at 42,000. It also has the strongest belt they could find. It is a full kevlar belt because it is actuallt the fiberglass one's that break. Ive broke 3 of them. 1 with the 6lb pulley and 2 with the 9lb pulley. Each time I had it rebuilt buy powerdyne under warranty but I would be without the charger for 6weeks minimum. I have since put a 2.75 pulley on my charger and make 10lbs of boost at 5000 rpms. The blower deffinatley whines now. Not as much as a straight cut vortech but close. I have had the bosch by-pass valve since I put the charger on, and Im told it is good upto 12lbs of boost which is what I make at 5500 rpms, but the stock heads seem to choke up past 5000 rpms. So far the blower has been fine since the rebuild and I pound on the car every day so hopefully this is the last of my belt problems.
So do you think if i put a bypass valve on my belt breaking problem will go away? Thats what i'm hoping for....

I would say that it certainly wouldnt hurt, but will it go away..... I dont know because I had the same problem and I had a bypass valve on from the initial install. You can get a bosch for less than 100 buck on the net.

Well i guess thats what i'll try. If it breaks again right away i'll take it off and sell it and buy a vortech instead.

No, they don't make the sound of a blow off valve. They don't make any because it takes the air after the supercharger (before the throttle body) and bypasses it back into the inlet of the supercharger after the MAF meter. You could place a blow off valve before the throttle body but you'll be wasting already metered air and loose performance.
