I have a 02 GT 5 speed with BBK cold air intake and a full H pipe exaust and steeda short throw shifter. I have been looking into Intake manifolds to replace the stock plasic unit, as well as looking into Plenums and throttle bodies, I have more or less decided on the PP brand for the Plenum and throttle bodys, I have be hearing a lot about the quality of there intakes and was wondering would it be worth it to just buy the trottle body and plunum, or all three with the intake.
By the way I am new to this sight call me Mark if you want and Yes I have done some searching but did not find the exact answer i wanted. Any inmput is welcome, and I will try to get some pics up soon as possible.

For your mods, the money will not be well spent on the lower. The upper t/b and plenum combo will be your best bang for the buck.

Alright thanks thats kinda what I though, its also been lowered and has 265's in the back so it hookes perty well, what ese would you recomend im thinking UD pullies and maybe a tune, but im feeling kinda iffy on some handheld programmers as far a actuall quality of the product and results.

Predators and sct tuners are very good. Stay away from hypertec and cheap knock offs. You will need the tuner for a gear swap (fix speedo) and other changes.

There is a mod thread in the top of this forum for starters like yourself.

How well do the stock, plastic PI instakes hold up to boost/nitrous?

they will hold up to 20+ psi with no problems. nitrous backfires is a different story though

BBK actually has a new complete intake manifold for PI 2V motors, it is called the DSI. I works much like the FR500 intake in that it has two separate runners to each intake port. One runner is long for maximum low end torque and the other is quite short to maximize torque higher in the RPM band to maximize top end power. A butterfly system actuates the shorter runners at a preprogrammed rpm (3500 to 4000 is the normally recommended range but can be changed for the application). Basically this is like 2 manifolds in one to make maximum power over a huge range. A similir design is in production on the Lincoln Aviator and works very well. The intake lists for under 1k. It is a complete upper and lower unit. It sounds like the best of both worlds and may be worth looking into. From what I am told you can even port match a set of NPI heads to this intake.

Don't confuse this with the IMRC function on early cobras or the 3v mustangs as it is not the same, although they serve the same purpose of optimizing air velocity.

Personally I have a 2v FRPP intake and can't justify the expense vs. the gain, but I would love to hear from anyone who has this intake on their setup.

Just got mine NA GT with mild bolt ons tuned at Dyno Tuned Performance dtpracing .com Don’t let anyone tell you that a dyno tune with mild bolt ons are a waste of time and money. I got more bang for the buck HP from the Dyno tune than all other mods. With my mods listed in Sig I went from

Base 240 HP 258 TQ
Diablo performance tune 235 HP 275 TQ
Dyno Tune 259 HP 281 TQ
Max gain +89 HP and 160 TQ at 3K RPM and +55 HP and 160 TQ at 5700 RPM
Picked up 19 HP & 23 TQ over base and 24 HP & 6 TQ over caned tune at the peak.

I actually lost 5 HP with Diablo canned tune but Brent said that was because I was running way lean due to C&L MAF. I guess the reason I thought the Diablo Performance tune was so good by my SOTP meter was the 17 TQ that I picked up over stock. Base and Diablo performance tune HP and TQ dropped off drastically after 5200 RPM. Dyno Tune curve started 89 HP & 160 TQ higher at 3K RPM and maintained the peek until 5700 RPM. Dyno Tune maintained over 250 HP from 4800 to 5700 RPM and maintained over 250 TQ from 3300 to 5400 RPM with a gradual drop off thru 5700.

i never worried about a tune cuz i was planning on a s/c (finally got it after 4 yrs. and a zex kit later) not trying to diss you n/a guys, but its tough to even break 300 with bolt ons and a tune with out tearing into the motor

I have the P-51 Fox lake intake manifold, and its great. I was fortunate enough to get it used at a good price. The only bad thing is it won't fit under the stock hood, you need aftermarket fuel rails, and I just bought a C&L upper plenum, which i didnt need when i got the new manifold. Its a little expensive, but i gained alot of top end HP and decent TQ thoughout the powerband. But i heard that the Trickflow intake manifold (basically the Bullit manifold) is pretty BA too.

Yeah thanks im deff going to pass on that intake and will prolly end up with the underdrive pullies instead sounds like a better bang for the buck.

Im really suprized that there is not a decent 2v intake on the market for under a grand...

Forget all that, and get gears and a tuner.

If you do get pulleys, get Steedas, but if you plan on a supercharger then dont waste your cash.

I have been reading and comparing all the UDP pullies from Summit to Stedda and I dont belive there is any real difference in brands, An UDP is just a UDP they should all be the same size, if im wrong someone please correct me.

I personally would skip them. To many potential issue can arise with pulleys for the 5 hp they give u. Gears, exhaust, tuner, upper plenum/tb...... Long tube headers if u can turn ur own wrenches.

Yeah but im running out of options now already have full exaust, short shrow steeda shifter and BBK cold air and ordering Plenum and throttle body today prolly. Im hearing a lot of mixed reviews on the hand held tuners with improving torque but hurting HP and longtube headers will be a nightmare, gears would be nice but i like 28mpg in 5th at 60 so i will pass for now. lol
but a lot of good ideas are being tossed around lol

Plus I think the blue UDP would look slick as hell on my sonic blue paint.
