You can also void the warranty by not using the recommended octane.

WHAT??? I'd love to know where these rumors come from! Only way would be if you used LESS than 87 octane, not more.

I always bought '89 before my tune. 89 is cheaper than 87 here because it has a bit of ethanol in it. But now they're both tuned for 93.

Ethanol is the worst stuff you can put in your car. Here in StL we are forced to, all gas here in StL county is 90% gasoline, 10% ethanol.

For years I have wondered why I always get better mileage coming back from out of state. It's because out of state they sell 100% gas! And yes Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Indiana are flat states, I'm not going uphill.

Gums up your engine and you get worse mileage (and performance). Remind me again Al Gore, how is running ethanol in my car helping the environment?

10% of ethanol is not making a bit of difference. I have seen some of the best gas mileage numbers of anyone on this board and my gas is 10% ethanol.

The Shelby GT requires premium fuel. Can I safely run 87 octane in the car to save on fuel cost?

I was thinking since they had knock sensors that the computer would pick up any pinging and would retard the timing.

What are your thoughts.

You can only get away with that at high altitudes.

Just pony up and pay for the octane.
