preventing waterspots when washing :(

I have a well, and our water is "hard water"...

Whenever i wash my car, I get what is known as "waterspots"...how do I prevent these whenever i wash my car? Am i supposed to mix my water with something?? will mixing it with vingegar work??

Does anyone else have this problem??

Here are a few suggests

1. Do not was in the middle of the day when the sun is at its highest, do it early in the morning are later in the afternoon. This way the water won't dry while you are still washing the car.

2. When you are done rinsing all of the soap off the car, take the nozzle off and starting at the top let the water flow over the car like a waterfall. This will cause a sheeting action which will carry most of the water away minimizing what needs to be dried.

3. Get yourself some waffle weave microfiber towels. They are far more absorbant than cotton and will not scratch. The best source I have found for them is www.pakshak.com. Ranney is a great guy to deal with and his customer service is top notch!

Mr. Clean car wash thing leaves 0 spots as well.

When I wash my car I dont worry about the spots till im dont with soaping and rinsing. Then I hose the whole car down to re-wet any part that may have dried and promptly drive it up into the garage or shade and dry it off with a chamios (sp?). No spots.

The trick for me has been washing it in the evening, and using an electric leaf blower to quickly brow-dry the car. It looks perfect every time. Mr Clean is nice but you gotta keep buying filters and soap forever. My Craftsman Leaf Hog cost me a one-time price of 52 bucks. Plus, it looks like a freaking bazooka ! It pushes 215 mph wind and does an awesome job every time. I highly reccomend one.

hey guys i have used the mr.clean soap by itself without using the filter process and such and after i hosed the car down to wash the soap the water started to dry off by itself. try out just the mr.clean car wash soap.

That's a great tip... thanks. I think I might pick one up this weekend. I am pretty anal about how my stang looks and this sounds like a great solution for drying her off without leaving scratches and such.

im not a big fan of the auto dry, it doesnt work that well. just dry it fast and your set. keep it waxed and it makes dryin that much faster

chamois works the best for me.... when i worked at ford in the wash bay this is how we dried all the cars for showroom

I had some Taco Bell do that to me last week...J/K

I do the "sheeting action" method too and then pull it in the garage where its cool (and closer to the counter which has my frosty beverage sitting on it).
