Guys, I need some help and I do apologize if this is not the right forum. How many of you have had dealings with Dave (previous owner of JD's Performance)? He just ripped me off for $3700.00 for a supercharger kit and another individuals for 2 supercharger kits!

On 1 June 09 I ordered a ATI pro charger for my car. I have been very patient but after many weeks of excuses and non returned phone calls I had come to fine out that he had been taking money from the business for medical issues and then sold the business to a new owner on 1 Aug 09. Through the new owner, who has been cooperative with me I was able to obtain his name, email, phone number and address where he is residing in Florida. Before I go foward with my lawsuit I am trying to find out who the other individual is that he had also ripped off on the two supercharger kits prior to him selling the business.

Guys, it not so much about the money as it is that he basically stole from me and not taking care of his customers or obligations.. Which really pisses me off.

If you ordered with CC, there might be some recourse there. Lawyer up and get him on fraud or go after the new owner, he's responsible for old orders too eh?

I'm not a lawyer and I'm talking out of my ass, that would piss me off.

He lives in orlando, working on address with police, he uses a mail boxes etc so its hard to find him. I filled charges but its doubtful anything will come of it. Bad thing is one of my customers is someone that this guy isnt going to want to deal with and looks like he may have to. Anyone else who got ripped off have any info on him? Or need any?

WOW!! This is very disappointing to hear. I bought a lot of parts from Dave back in 03-04. He was always such a nice guy, always very professional. He must have hit rock-bottom to resort to ripping his customers off. I'm really sorry about you're loss of money. I hope you get your money back in a timely manner.

'91 Vette

First, I do own two Fords! LOL! I REALLY wish I had found you guys earlier! I have been waiting 6 weeks now. He WAS returning my calls, but now his HOME phone is disconnected and his OTHER website sundancerracing.com has also disappeared! He has had ALOT of addresses in the Orlando area. He is presently using a mailbox at the UPS Store in Celebration FL. He got me for $4300. The system was for my Vette. It is built and waiting on payment from him which apparently is NOT gonna happen. He was nice 'till I gave him an ultimatum. Then these things happened. ATI is aware of his practices, but have been patient with him because of his past record with them. I have been in daily contact with THEM. In my case he is guilty of mail fraud (a FELONY) and I am opening an investigation with the postal service. I have also been in contact with the Florida Attorney General's Office and they will either open their own investigation or work in concert with the USPS. I have gathered ALOT of background info on this guy, so if you boys need anything PLEASE email me and we will trade stories. I WILL get a pound of flesh from this THIEF. The guy sounds like he is living high on the hog on OUR money. From my info gathering, I believe that the possibilty also exists that other family members MIGHT be involved. Like Clint Eastwood said in Gran Torino, " You ever meet that guy you just should'nt f*** with? I'M THAT GUY!" I am sick of turds like this who screw over car guys like us because we trust other guys who are supposedly "car guys". Sick of it. I WILL be the last person he does this to, I promise you that. I will make it my mission in life.

damn that sucks. I feel for you. Your best bet is to call the credit card company and if you know his address call his local PD. Personally my PTSD would have kicked in and I would be halfway to florida getting even more pissed as every mile goes by

Thats actually pretty good advice, I've never even heard of a JD's performance, why order from there when you can get it from such a well known source like jegs or summit, its usually cheaper, cheaper shipping, and the customer service is the best.

Independently Wealthy

Thank You! And, yes, you are for the MOST part correct. However, as I STATED, I called ATI (the manufacturer) and THEY told me he was an authorized legitimate dealer, and in this case was CHEAPER (enough to warrant my attention). I DO buy from both Summit and JEGS because they are both located in Ohio and so am I. So in most cases not only do I receive next day shipping at regular rates but also their normally excellent prices. They are, however, NOT ALWAYS cheaper. In this case they were not by several hundred dollars. And when the MANUFACTURER tells you he is one of their DEALERS and has been for over eight years without an issue, you feel comfortable purchasing from this person. I, unlike you guys, am not independently wealthy, and in this economy DO sometimes try to save money, especially when it is fairly substantial.

First....

Don't be so touchy. The advice being given is sound. I'm sorry for your misfortune and that you had to find out the hard way that dealing with the place that advertises the cheapest prices isn't always going to be your best option...but it happens.

You may not choose to appreciate it now seeing as you you're still sore over the money you've lost, but it may prevent someone else reading this thread from making the same mistake you did.....so there's no harm in someone giving the advice.

Second....

It has nothing really to do with being independently wealthy, but everything to do properly researching your product and vendor before plopping down the money....especially that kind of cabbage!

And the attitude with people who could potentially help you out isn't a great idea, I'm not "independently wealthy" but if and when I'm going to drop a large about of money ($3700 for example) I would seriously look into where I get it. And you can capitalize whatever you want, it's not difficult to become an "authorized" dealer of a product, and does not mean the people are legit or trustworthy, it's always best to deal with companys with a sound reputation when spending that much cash.

Saving a few hundred dollars does no good when you lose a few thousand.

Are You Paying Attention?

I have agreed with several of you that it is always an easier situation to buy from someone with the impeccable reputation of Summit or Jegs. And I have spent mucho dinero with both companies. Since you chose Summit to give me a lesson through quoting their ad, check your information and their website, they don't sell the ATI Procharger, OK????? Jegs will special order any of ATI's kits, but they charge FULL retail. Did you pay sticker for the last car you bought??? Now, for the last time, I called ATI, I called ATI, I called ATI. You know, the manufacturer???? They told me that Dave was a great guy with which they had been doing business for over 10 years, OK???? Would you not say that when the manufacturer of the product you are purchasing tells you that the dealer from which you are attempting to buy their product is 100% legitimate, and has been so for over 10 years, that would indicate that you could feel relatively comfortable then buying from him??? And as indicated by several guys here, this situation with him is something that has reared it's ugly head very recently. So, if you are going to preach to me, please get the facts straight. I, as do the others who have been ripped off by this clown I'm sure do, sincerely appreciate any help and advice you feel comfortable giving, but again, please get ALL the facts straight by actually reading exactly what has been stated. If I have pissed you off by ranting before, I apologize, but I'm am quite sure that your temper would flare as mine has, especially when you have been assured that the research that you have done IS correct. I did not go into this situation blindly as I have stated SEVERAL times before, and I'm quite sure the others in this situation did not do so either. We were drawn here by a common problem, and contrary to the last several opinions, we were not just pissing in the wind and HOPING that we would receive what we had payed for. We were assured by what you would have to agree would be an expert on the subject of the reputation of the person we were dealing with, the people who were making the product in question. If they had been dealing with this guy for over ten years without an issue, that's about as clear cut as it gets. As far as capitalizing, apparently that is NOT enough to make certain people actually read and understand what has been stated. If, as I said before, I have upset you or pissed you off, I sincerly apologize. Seems though that I'm not the one trying to add insult to injury by picking a fight here.
