Priming oil system? HELP!

Trying to prime a new motor, so we are cranking it over with the spark plugs out and the coil packs unplugged. Problem is we are not seeing any oil pressure on a guage we hooked into the oil filter housing.

The starter is kicking over the flywheel (finally) and the battery appears to have a strong charge. What can I do next to figure out if the oil pump is good. This is a brand new shortblock with a new high flow oil pump.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated.

One time Gearbanger101 posted a really cool way of installing the oil pump primed with oil... I cannot remember what he said though. Maybe PM him.

I thought modulars didn't require oil pump priming.

In any case, how long are you cranking for? Takes a while usually to build it up.. I would imagine perhaps even more in a brand new engine.

ive cranked it over multiple times for about 10-15 seconds each, and nothing..

If it hasn't seized up after repeatedly cranking it over, I would think you've definately got some oil circulation.

well the motor was heavly oiled and lubed beforehand.. but atleast cranking it without the plugs, there is a tad less stress on everything.

I think I need to find a way of feeding presurized oil in the 1/4" port on the filter neck deal.

ok well I tried out the fertilizer sprayer with no luck.. Guess the oil is too thick to pick up. I dont think you can send presurized oil into that port and expect it to make its way into the pickup, and oil pump ( feed side).. Atleast I had no luck trying it this way...
