is the way the stock shifter comes out of the tranny the same as mustangworld.com's install howto? b/c this bitch is STUCK in there. i "pulled up" on the stock shifter even with the stock lever attached and it seems like it wont come off. any suggestions?

Yes,thats pretty much how it's done.You can use a prybar under the stock shifter if you need to.

Try pulling left to right w/ the handle on. That worked w/ mine, and it was a PITA when the car had only 35 miles on it.

I just smacked the **** out of the handle and it broke free

Yeah it's tough. Mine really kicked my ass getting it off. Just keep working at it

the "noise" you guys all talk about with the aftermarket shifters... is it the noise it makes when it SHIFTS, or when its in gear you can hear some noise?

I dont notice anymore noise while making the shift but u can def hear the gear whine just going down the road.

Dont worry, you will get used to the VERY light whine...I dont hear anything anymore in mine.And I also had trouble getting the stock (may i also say CHEAP looking) shifter off. Man the pro 5.0 looks worlds ahead in quality right. Couldnt believe the difference. oh BTW, BUY THE STEEDA HANDLE FOR $30...i loved the little handle, but my dad was going to get the handle for his stock shifter and he said I should try it and see if it helped any...and WHOOAAA, MUCH MUCH better...its a LITTLE longer throw, but the comfort is not even close...Pro 5.0 with steeda hanle = the perfect shifter IMO. Was starting to miss 2nd pretty regularly, but that pretty much stopped it...later installed a steeda clutch quardant and missed gears are VERY rare now. Every once in a while I will let off the clutch too fast and just barely miss the gear....happened so far in every gear once maybe twice, except for 5th I think...driver error LOL.
