I am now in a position to buy my first "performance" upgrade and I want it to be a short throw shifter because the stock one is a royal pain. I had a pro 5.0 in my tremec TKO enhanced '90 GT and I liked it but my friend has a Tri Ax in his 'o2 GT and I like it too. Any reason why I should buy one or the other? Also how do I list my car and its mods under my post?

I am in the same dilemma.

Some say the Steeda one makes more noise (fixed by wrapping handle in tape)

Some say the Pro 5.0 handle is harder to use (fixed by buying a steeda handle)

Some say the steeda one springs to 3rd better. That's my concern. I DO want whatever shifter is tighter and springs to 3rd better.

I've also heard the UPR shifter is basically a steeda knock-off for $50 cheaper. Is this true?

Well I have a steeda tri-ax and love it. It does make some noise but nothing special, I can barely hear it with my exhaust. Never used the 5.0 so I don't know how the shifter feels or works in 3rd but the tri-ax shifts perfect to 3rd. Hope that helps!

Got both, prefer the Pro 5.0. Much more race-like. 2nd to 3rd shift is simple...just push with your palm - it goes right up into 3rd.
The handles are less than $30 and interchangeable. The 5.0 is short, straight and steel. The Tri-Ax is more like the OEM in shape and is aluminum.

Can anyone comment on if the UPR shifter is a carbon copy of the tri-ax??
I have heard from reliable sources that the UPR shifter is made by Steeda. I think you can't go wrong with either the Tri-Ax or the Pro 5.0. I would hold off on the UPR until more people buy it and let us know how it is. If
Steeda makes it is probably a quality piece. :p

i gotta vote for the tri-ax. its much more comfortable than the 5.0 IMO. every time someone with a pro 5.0 sits in my car and grabs my shifter they comment on how much more comfortable the position is. if u dont do that much racing then id go with the tri-ax but if you'd like a racier feel go with the pro 5.0 its more personal taste than anything. good luck.

get the tri-ax and your car will be 10 times more fun to drive. You get a little more heat transfer to the knob and a little more gear noise, it is a race car feel. I love mine and I would drive my car just for the sake of driving once I put it in.

Well that's just it. I was thinking about buying the Steeda shifter til i heard a few guys say the UPR peice felt exactly like it.

The UPR shifter is like $140

both steeda and the pro 5.0 are the best so either one ur not gonna be disapointed in....both shift to third great and as far as comfort both have their advantages and disadvantages....ive heard the steeda is noisy but i hear its also easy to cure the noise
