I'm trying to remove my radiator and having trouble with a couple lines connected to it. They are thin metal tubes and are not shown in the Chilton guide I have which makes me think they are fluid line coolers for an automatic transmission.. which would be odd as my car is a 5-spd. I can't get my car jacked up enough to really trace these back, but they feel like they are not connected to anything once they cruise past the oilpan. Can someone tell me what the highlighted lines are? I crimped one pretty good trying to remove it and need to know what possibly needs to be replaced.

turn the cooler line nut with a wrench and keep the radiator fitting from spinning with a wrench, when you get them off remove the cooler lines and your done. yes they are automatic transmission cooler lines, someone was to lazy to plug the radiator with pipe fittings.

Thanks 4rdnut. I've tried that but the cooler line nut and the radiator fitting are damn near welded together. I need to get some penetrating fluid but the store is closed. Would you think those cooler lines are just hanging loose? If I pull down on them they have a ton of give and I can hear what sounds like the lines rattling around up under the car.. I just can't get an angle to see where they wind up.

I'm replacing the radiator and if those aren't connected to anything, I'm thinking I could just cut them and pull the radiator out. Maybe this is a bad idea? I was talked in to doing this radiator swap on my own even after repeatedly stating I have zip experience under the hood lol. Sorry if these are ridiculous questions.. I'm trying to learn.

You said you bent or twisted the one already so cut the buggers off, you have a 5 speed so you don't need them.

Radiator is out and those coolant lines are gone. I did manage to trace them back and make sure they were not connecting to anything first. Thanks for the help 4rdnut!

Looks like your car may have been an AOD at one point

That appears to be the case. That would also explain why it has 3.27 gears I suppose.
