I've had my Mach 1 for 5 weeks and 3 times during this time frame while driving down the highway at around 60mph it feels like it loses power, I can press the gas pedal to the floor and the car will not increase in speed. Let off the gas with the car in gear and there's a drastic drop in speed. Not like your normal slow down. Anyone have any ideas? Took it by the dealership today, they hooked up to the computer with no luck. By the way it's a 5 speed car.

Well if your in 5th gear at 60 mph with the stock gear. Your not gonna go anywhere. 5th gear is so freeway friendly in our cars, you have to downshift to pass cars.

Yes I agree with MustangLife. 5th gear is all highway and if your doing 60 and put your foot down your going to increase speed very very slowly. But if your in 4th and it does that man...I;d take it back and tell them you want a different Mach or upgrade to the badass cobra. Personally the Mach1's are overrated and Highly priced.

with a Mach1 and having 3.55 gears, you should be able to pull or feel something in 5th. I would try this, pull the negative terminal on the battery, let is sit for like 20 minutes. Put it back on, take it for a 5 minute drive bring it back, shut if off and then go back out on the highway and see what happens.

I know when my car feels sluggish I do this and it usually feels more responsive.

I've been driving cars fot many years and have had more than my share of Mustangs including a '98 Cobra, so I'm familiar with this motor. I also know that there will not be any great response to throttle imput in 5th gear but there should be some. When this problem occurs I have no throttle response in 5th or even downshifting to 4th which leads me to believe it's more of a computer glitch.

yes that is why I said disconnect the negative terminal. That will erase the memory on the ECU.

Did that yesterday. Haven't really driven the car since then except to church last night and did not feel anything then.

i almost have the same problem.....but i think my case is worst.... my car pulls strong as hell on 1st and 2nd gear... but right when i hit 3rd it feels like my car beacomes 1000 pounds heavier and will not accelerate as it should....... my fifth gear is very sluggish too on the high way even wen im hitting around 80, and down shiftting to 4th doesnt make that big of a difference.

Sounds like you need to warm your computer up. Get huge gobs of newspaper, pour gasoline on them, set under your car and use a match to start a small fire. That should do the trick!

J/K you hear about the guy that did that to try and warm his engine up because it wouldnt start?

Anyways, on topic..That sounds really strange and something you need to MAKE the dealer fix

This is a wierd and not understandable problem. I've never heard of it happening. I'm not saying your not telling the truth. But it sounds crazy.

Sounds like you went straight to 5th gear to me. You did a 1-2-5 and thought you were in 3rd and really weren't.
