I just installed a Magnaflow Cat-Back system and seem to be running into some clearance issues between my stock rear sway bar and the exhaust. It seems that I can't find a neutral position for the pipes before and after they clear my rear axle. The pipes are either too far forward which causes the rear sway bar to possibly run into the exhaust pipe or the pipes are too far back which will cause the rear axle to possibly run into the pipes Now, the pipes haven't actually made any contact, but it seems contact will happen if the stock rear sway bar remains.

Any thoughts/comments/concerns?

Thanks for the help!!

Very common installation problem....

Please call our tech lines at 1-800-990-0905

It all has to do with the adjustment of the system....

Thanks

Hi Brent,

Today I spoke with, Jim at Magnaflow (I think that was the his name in support) and he stated the system doesn't work with a 2001 Saleen and left me with that for an answer/solution. He stated he wasn't familiar with that problem occuring with anyone other Saleens. So, now I'm not sure of what to do....any suggestions because I'm now running w/o a rear sway bar?

Actually I checked and he is correct, because of the Saleen rear valance, if you line up the exhaust with the cut outs, it will cause the system not to line up correctly--

My apologies, I did not realize this would happen-

You may want to contact Saleen and see if they are willing to sell you the Magnaflow/ Saleen system for the 99-04 Saleen Mustangs-

Also, I noticed you said that they were "possibly" going to hit- have you tried running your car for a day to see if they actually do end up hitting?

wsbrigham, what about going to a center exhaust? I am almost positive that you can use your Magnaflow or Borla system...that way yoru Magnaflow system isn't a total loss....

Thanks for the info!

I am a little hesitatnt to run with the sway bar because I don't want to seriously damage/dent the new system. I'm contemplating on whether or not I should relocate the mounting holes for the sway bar back about 1/2 on the frame. Do you see any problems with doing so?

For me, paying for another system from Saleen is out of the question $$$$. I'll contact them see if they have any suggestions, though.

Also, did Saleen mix and match Borla and Magnaflow system on the 99-04 models? I am kinda' under the impression it was Borla.....

Again, thanks for your help!

Saleen used Borla thorugh late 02 on all S281's , well at least through car # 340 which I owned and it had the Borla's. Mike knows roughly the car number they switched. No mix match though.
