My car starts up fine when its cold. However after running it and its hot, it wont start unless I pump the gas pedal /and or turn the ignition on and off a few times. The entire ignition system has been replaced, I just replaced the distributor last week. Im guessing its the fuel system. Anybody have any ideas whats causing this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated....

I would advise you to recheck your timing and placement of the dizzy. Id also reccomend replacing your spark plugs if you havent already. Was the distributer used? If so replace the cap and rotor. Good Luck

it could also be your starter ground wire. Change the ground wire. It's cheap too. Also, do what nick said.

when it is hot and does not want to start, try cycling the key a few times before trying to crank it over - this will prime the pump multiple times. If this helps, check fuel pressure in the hard-start circumstances - it might be low.

good luck.

Most likley a bad connection or a heat soaked/bad starter.

I guess we should ask: My impression was that the car cranked fine when the car would not start - it just would not catch.
From the replies, it seems like people think it does not crank when hot.

So i guess we should ask which is it?

The distributor is brand new, only a week old. Timing is set at 14 degrees. Before the car would start up fine. I do prime the pump and pump the gas pedal, it starts up after a few tries. Guess I will check the ECT sensor. I will post any changes. Thanks for everyones help!!!

You should not have to touch the gas pedal to get it to start.

I know!!! Thats why I thought maybe it has something to do with the fuel system?

flooring the gas pedal while cranking kills the injector pulse, which is useful when there is a flood condition.

stock injectors?

good luck.

Check your tps and make sure it's under a volt. That should fix it , seen the same problem on several stangs.
