When I plug in my mobile cell phone charger into the cigarette lighter socket of my Mustang, the led light on the charger lights up. After this is done, when I connect the charger to my cell phone, it causes the cell phone to display "Does Not Charge" on the phone's display screen.
I ALSO tried my mobile cell phone charger in my wife's car and it does the same thing. It will light up, but when you connect it to the cell phone, it will not charge the phone. Again, my cell phone will display "Does Not charge" on the phone's display screen.
When I brought my mobile cell phone charger to the Cingular store, they tested it out at the store by plugging it into another automotive cell phone charger and then plugging that particular automotive cell phone charger into an AC electrical wall outlet. When they did this everything worked fine. But when I tried it again in my Mustang, the mobile cell phone charger again will not work to charge my cell phone.
My wife has the same exact cell phone and mobile cell phone charger as I do. When I tried my cell phone on "her" automotive cell phone charger, it worked.

I am not 100% sure, but if my cell phone works on my wife's mobile cell phone charger, then do you think that the cigarette lighter socket in my Mustang is okay? The led on my mobile cell phone charger lights up when it's plugged into the cigarette lighter socket, but it doesn't charge my cell phone.
Is my mobile cell phone charger defective? Or is the cigarette lighter socket defective in my Mustang?

So her charger works on your phone in your car? If so, didn't you answer your own question?

If your cig lighter was bad, the charger's LED would not illumiate at all, would it?

I wouldn't think that it would work.
Buy WHY does the LED light on my mobile cell phone charger light up when I plug it inside my Mustang's cigarette lighter socket and then NOT work to charge my cell phone? If my mobile cell phone charger lights up then WHY isn't it working like it should be to charge my cell phone?

It's a Nokia Charger. My wife has the same cell phone and charger. I tried her charger BOTH in my Mustang and in her car and it WORKS when I connect it to my cell phone. I ended up going to the place where I purchased the charger and they gave me another brand new one. The brand new one works like a charm right now. I was told that the defective charger was not getting the charge to the cell phone. The current insode my Mustang was lighting up the LED light on the charger, but the charger was not bringing the current to my cell phone. The charger was blocking the current from getting to my cell phone. That's what the sales rep at the cell phone store told me.
