Having alittle problem with my mustang its a 91 Gt all stock except for the exhaust. I have tried to pull codes with the car off and with the car running and I get none. I have changed cap and rotor, egr sensor, new plugs, no vac leaks, new tps, fuel pump sounds good, fuel filter is new, and that I know of everything is ok?? The only other part that I think it might be is the distributor but before I go out and spend $100+ just want to make sure if any of you have experienced this in the past and figured out what the problem was thanks.

So you checked the surging idle checklist in order?? Except for the speed of the palsey, it looks like an item there. If the motor is really changing RPM that quickly, it's on the list! If the motor is smooth, how about checking the gauge vs an old time, Tach/Dwell meter? It looks like a very shaky needle to me.

you could try a distributor from a friends car. it will cost 20 minutes of time, $0 and check your tfi at the same time

try this
http://351winsor.com/joel/Ignition_Systems/tfi2.html

ive never checked one,but if you have a known working distributor, just swap it in. if it fixes the problem then its probably the tfi.

Could just be an inaccurate tach.... Try resetting the ECU with you scan tool
