Anyone else have problems filling their tank? I dunno if its because its an old car or what but it seems like if I i fill it to fast or don't angle the nozzel a certain way it comes spilling out  I was thinking of just putting a filler cap on top of the trunk like a 60's corvette.

my 67 does this too, my 65 didnt....and from owning both of them...i can say....the gas tank placement in the trunk is the same....the difference is the 67/68 trunk is pushed in cause the filler neck angle to be greater which causes a venting problem and thus a filling problem.

what i do to keep that from happening is to try and seal the rubber lip of the pump up to the filler neck when im pumping and try to keep the end of the pump nozzle down at the bottle of the filler pipe that way as soon as gas touches it, it stops. this has worked for me, it only took one time of gas spraying everywhere for me to devise a better way. these old cars definately dont act like a new car with its fancy filler apparatice :)

Back in the good-ole-days we never filled up the tank so we never experienced these problems. I could drive all day on $.50 worth of "leaded" premium. I think the pump pressure was a lot less then cause we had all the time in the world to stand around and pump gas.
