two questions

1 I need to push in the piston in the rear caliper so the new pads will fit, from what ive heard you have to twist them in so do i need a special tool or is there another way to do it do they turn clockwise/counterclockwise.

2. what are some ways others have used to center the rotor on the axle

the rotors and calipers are off a 94 GT and my axles are fox length 31 spline mosers

all of this is on my 89 lx

thanks

sorry if im wrong, i didnt have to push my calipers in since they were new, i'de try a c-clamp at first. if they do need to turn, you can use the loan-a-tool from autozone, or they sell a special adapter to do it.

nothing is used to "center the rotor" on the axles. the lugs hold it in place and the wheel bolts to the other side.

what i want to know is what brackets you are using to make sn95 gt brakes work on a stock length axle.

Yes you have to rotate the pistons to seat them in the calipers. You can rent the tool from Autozone or other parts places, or buy it from someplace like Harbor Freight for like $20 or so. I don't recall which way to turn them, it's been a while since I read up on it. On my original calipers I just used some needle nose pliers in the piston holes and was able to get the piston to go back in place. But it kind of scarred the piston up a bit so I bought the disc brake tool for the future.

As for the spacers, you can use a small piece of pipe that has the internal and external dimensions of the hub & rotor. Some of the guys on here have posted the specs, wish I had a link.

Good luck!

I beleive it's 2.75" OD and 2.5" ID by 1/4" thick.

Just measure the rotor and hub on the axle. You definitely want the rotor centered on the hub ver the lugs. The hub is what you want taking the shear loads.
