prochamber or lowering springs

Sorry next time I just won't mention the "collector" bolts issue with a fellow stanger that might say "hey $100 and I can swap my own exhaust..." Some people might appreciate the fact that if you have never done an exhaust swap on a mustang before you really stand about a 50/50 chance of stripping at least one bolt on one of the collectors - my appologies for not using the EXACT name, but if anybody reading this understood ANYTHING about a mustang you would know what bolts I am talking about - you don't mess with the bolts on the heads doing a mid pipe swap obviously. To answer the $250 question - I said some shops "can" charge you that much to do it - I think mine cost me about $150 because I just went to the local muffler shop - Tom Dugan who stripped it wanted like $300 I think and I told him what I thought about that price and him creating a problem - because they don't mess around with that stuff I guess - and they do bad work in general - I probably would have had a blown up engine by the time he fixed that one problem he created...One thing to note on the repair is if the shop is slippery they could charge you another $50 bucks for doing the swap in addition to the header labor/parts - it really depends on the shop because if you have an off road setup you are at the shops mercy as far as price because they are doing work on an illegal setup, so if you don' t like your prices you run the risk of going to the next guy down the street who has a passion for pollution control and he decides to make your day worse with a friendly call to the local police - trust me if you think running no cats is a joke and you'll get a slap on the wrist if you get caught you are just ignorant - it's a felony - and I know someone who was married to a cop that had to jump through loops to clear up the "no cat" charge. I am old fashioned and know the guys at one of the local shops - all it takes for me to do a swap is $50 bucks and offer up a 1/5 of Hennessey to get the job done - For the headaches of doing it in my driveway I would go that route any day rather then spending the time and effort to do it in my driveway - not to mention my mufflers are welded to my h pipe not bolted - so I don't really have a choice....

You wouldn't just get "new headers" for a couple reasons : a. the cobra headers are already good to go - you would only get a small hp improvement UNLESS you went with long tubes(so you would be wasting money) b. you would have a lot more man hours involved in installing new headers - moving the engine around an so on.... c. the average person who just bought a standard x/h/etc pipe was not looking to turn a $200-$400 simple swap into a grand. Once that pipe is installed and considered "used" you can't just turn around and scrap it and say "well I screwed up, so I guess I'll junk everything and pick up a full long tube exhaust"

Again if you were attempting an exhaust swap then you would know what bolts I was referring to in the first place, just wanted to help out an amateur that wasn't looking to start a nightmare....I leave it at that instead of responding to each personal attack you try and throw at me...at the end of the day 13 grand is done to my "daily driver" and that's all I care about - good luck on the swap for those who try it!

Why are you making it sound so hard or troublesome to do an h or x pipe swap . If you simply are intelligent let everything cool, spray the nuts and studs with break free lube and use the correct socket it is very simple it is not a 50/50 chance it depends on you, do it right and it is no problem even for someone who is new to mustangs or even wrenching. Look at how many people my self included swap them all the time with no problems. I have changed them on more cars then i can remember with not one striped nut or broken stud. Don't scare poeple in to staying away from this mod it is simple and strait forward. and the whole thing with not having cats yes there is a big penalty but it is not hard to keep from getting in trouble, open your eyes and get out of it around cops , and don't give them a reason to pull you over. Plus not all cops are dicks and will bust you , many of them could give a rats ass if you have cats or not as long as you don't drive like a jerk they will leave you alone.

Get the springs first get that done then mod the pipe after. Does not matter what wheels you have they never make up for fender gap. If you have the money for both springs and struts why not just get a prochamber and springs then it won't look lifted and waiting for a flood plus it will have the prochamber and a little more balls.
