Procharger Low Boost...BPV?

I'm having a problem with my procharger setup. It's making a high pitch wining noise from 1500-4000 RPM. The car just feels slower than normal. I could only pull off a 13.3 at 105 on Nitto DR's. Could it be a problem with the Bypass valve or a boost leak somewhere? The vac line is hooked up properly. It saw 8 psi and 350/380 on the dyno last month even while it was making the noise.
Anyone have this problem?

My car feels slow now too. It almost seems to get slower every time I drive it. I think the problem might be that your getting used to it. Its time to invest in more parts to cure the addiction. Go buy some cams or ported heads and you will forget all about the procharger whine. If it was making the noise on the dyno and it was fine then the noise can't be causing anything now. If you want to check the bypass valve turn your car on, open the hood, hit the throttle a couple times while looking at the bypass valve. If it moves it is ok. I don't have an easy way to check for a boost leak other then buying a boost guage.

The bypass valve does nothing when I open the throttle with my hand. Can I adjust the BPV. Something is definately wrong. But I figured I would hear the air flow if their was a leak present. The car does'nt feel as strong. I ran a 13.6 on a humid day on street tires without the supercharger last year. I need a boost guage.

Did you purchase the Supercharger brand new from procharger?

How long ago?

It is possible you might have spun the bearings. that happend to me... Check your oil also, if its grey then your SC might be toast. i had to buy a new one lol 1st one was P1SC now i bought the D1SC... Much better (10% overdrive crank pulley and 3.4 SC pulley) I think i want to buy the F1A now ,not even 200miles on my new unit..

I bought it from a private seller locally brand new. He had it sitting around for a year and never installed it. If this is the case and the bearings are toast. Is their a rebuild kit from procharger?

If the little arm on the bypass valve doesn't move when you hit the throttle then the diaphram in it is bad. You can get a replacement from procharger and they are pretty cheap and easy to install. You will have to call them though because I didn't see them on thier website. Without a diaphram your bypass valve will never close and you will probably not make more then a pound or two of boost. If the inside of your intake isn't coated in oil then your bearings are probably ok. The only way to get your bearings replaced is to send it back to procharger and have them do it. If you do, upgrade to a p1sc-2 it has a different impeller that brings on the boost a little earlier.

I double checked and the bypass valve is fuctioning correctly. I have a boost and fuel pressure gauge on the way. what should my fuel pressure be at? The supercharger is not low on oil, therefore I don't think it's leaking. If the bearings are smoked, would it stop making boost? I'll try and get a vid up shortly.

you can rig up a boost leak tester with a couple od PVC caps that you will slide into the couplings at the outlet of the s/c and at the TB. drill a hole in one and get a bolt in valve stem and put it in one of the caps. use a air chuck to pressurize the system to 20 psi or so and check for leaks with soapy water!!

works like a charm and costs less than $5

My 03/04 Cobra boost gauge is only reading about 4-5 lbs. I dont know how accurate it is. But I'm definately gonna leak test it using your method. thanks Saleen.

I had a boost leak once and I just did a trick where you take brake cleaner and spray it around your plumbing. Your engine will rev or bog when you've sprayed into the area that has the leak. It worked for me. Your engine's mass air meter thinks its getting a certain amount of air so it's telling your engine to give it a certain amount of fuel. When you change that by having air leak, or adding fuel to it, the engine will change. Boom! You found your leak.
As far as low boost numbers, I would defiantly get a guage and do a leak check. Worked for me. Especially on the inlet part to my supercharger.

that works if you dont have FI. with a boost leak the pipes are pressurized so it will not suck the brake clean in like a NA engine will
