i purchased the p1sc kit for my 06 gt, i installed it on the vehicle with 8,000 miles, at 22,000 miles it started making a rattling noise and a humming noise, procharger says bearings and it could be between $700-$1500 to fix, also it has leaked oil from the drain plug since i changed the break in oil, i have purchased drain plugs and o-rings from procharger and it still leaks...........i am completely disappointed with this system.....also before it failed internally it would only pull about 7-8 psi of boost with a 12 psi pulley.....what is going on here.....then the last guy that dyno tuned it said i had blown head gaskets and only tuned the car to 6,000 rpm nd it still made 425hp and 400torque......i cant keep dumping money into this thing every week...........although it did go 12.20 @ 115 on 17" bfg drag radials...........any ideas??????

I would be suprised that the bearings would need to be replaced after 14,000 miles. The only way you will know is to pull it apart and check them. I have had my Procharger on my 70 Z/28 since 2000 and it still makes 16 lbs of boost. Early on, I did have belt slippage issues. That could be why your boost is low, if it's not slipping, make sure you do not have any leaks between the intake manifold and the blower outlet. If those are good, you either have poor ring seal or the Procharger may have a damaged impeller. I have had such good luck with mine that I am considering installing one on my 08 GT.

Let us know what you find out.

Sell Procharger, get cams and heads... 12.20's w/ zero problems :nice:

I've got zero problems with mine. You can't associate a pulley size to a hard number on boost. Every car is different.

Thier kit pulley claims 9 lbs, made 8 on mine. I dropped down incrementally until I sat right at 11 lbs.

Car has run great since day 1 with no problems. Been on for 3 years. A little fluid drip was present after my first oil swap. Corrected that and no problems with seepage yet.

Next car will have a procharger on it again, I'm that happy with it.

Sounds like you tuner/ mechanic just throws guesses out there. Blown headgaskets are testable problem. Run a leak down test and if it's good, ignore that guy going forward.

Quickstang1, is your warranty over with Procharger? If you still have some warranty left, they should cover something simple like a bearing without question. However, the rattling noise may be something much worse - perhaps it started as a bearing going bad, then the bearing came apart in pieces?

I feel for you, though, as I pulled the Vortech V2 blower off my '07 GT two days again and shipped it back to Vortech to replace a bad/squealing pulley bearing. It's still within warranty (blower went on just 51 weeks and 6,000 miles ago). My GT is now sitting stranded in my driveway waiting for Vortech to receive & rebuild my blower. At least it wasn't difficult getting the blower's head unit off - about 1.5 hours by myself.

As for boost? My V2 is rated at 8.5-9.5 psi, but it makes 11.5 psi by 6,500 rpm's. A lot of factors affect the actual boost made by any particular car, as Emay noted above.

Marc S - guess I won't see you at PR or Bremerton anytime soon since my '07 GT is down for awhile. Might be mid-July before I get to the drags this season at this rate.

Quickstang1, making big power does come at a cost. Things break at elevated power levels, so you gotta expect some things to go wrong once in awhile. That's what I tell myself during times like these, at least!

Brian, do you have the stock parts and tune so you could at least drive your car?

Well, I grabbed the Vortech instruction book, looked over the car a bit, and decided to return the car to stock so I can drive it while I wait for the blower to be repaired and shipped back to me. Got everything completely swapped over in just a couple of hours, but have to wait until tomorrow to finish as I had to special order a unique fitting (-4 JIC compression fitting plug) to plug the oil feed line. Stock tune is already loaded and the car started right up last night (I knew to turn it off quick as the oil feed line wasn't capped off). That plug arrives tomorrow and will take about 30 seconds to install.

It's going to feel so slow compared to the old setup! You should run it at PR next Wednesday night just to see how much slower it is. I will bet you $5.00 I can beat you now.

Oh, I know you can beat me now. I ran 13.30's @ 102 mph at PR 2 years ago with my car setup the way it is today (w/o the blower). So, you're trapping 5-6 mph more than me and a 1/4 second quicker ET's. Give me a couple car lengths headstart (like on Pinks) and that should even us up.

quickstang1 - any progress with your Procharger yet? Are you going to send it in for repairs? It's a shame to spend so much money, but you deserve to have your car working right!

no sir----procharger has been off since november---they cant tell me how much so im tryin to put a bunch of money aside just in case---then next step is to find a tuner here in orlando that wont feed me a bunch of crap like i have blown head gaskets!! turns out i didnt have a money tree in backyard----nice

Sorry the hear that things aren't going well with procharger. I'm still waiting for Vortech to get my blower rebuilt and shipped back to me. I've returned the car to NA, so I can drive it in the mean time. Sure feels slow w/o the blower - boost is addicting!
