the old engine was blowned, and I decided to rebuilt one..(2.3T) no performance part, except the forged pistons + Turbo, but it doesn't count :)
I will probable try to port the exhaust manifold

Oh.. and I went to Blainville Ford, and they told me that I should change the 10 bolts from the head(head/block).. 'Cause we are supposed to change them everytime we change the headgasket.. And they are 44.50$ each..
So 44,50$ X 10= 445$.. **** OFF I won't change them.. hope it isn't so important..

Yeah! the color is "Dark blue ford", with the flash of the camera, it looks like original blue ford.. don't know why :)hehe There will be 3 colors: dark blue ford, black, and silver..

Should look clean :)
I'll try to keep this thread updated :D

Hey nice to see you're moving something hehe! No one told me I should change my head bolts... $445!!! Jebus ARP studs would be cheaper lol There was a 2.3T for sale in the lespac awhile ago, I don't know if there is a turbo with the engine though...

Yeah I saw this engine, but.. the guy is saying that the car have not moved during 7years... so.. I'm better to keep my idea of rebuilding a block :)
And No, the turbo won't come with it :D But it doesn't matters.. got one at home already :)

A-pillar!

Voila, I'm modifying a stock a-pillar that I bought in a junk yard, from a car exacltly like my car :) same color, same year, coupe.. lol fibergalssing it, make it look okay :)

oops... sorry for the french.. :) I will traduce :)

For the bolts, it's written on a sheet, That the guy gave me, that it is really 44,50$each bolt... it sucks, but I won't change them.. don't have enough cash for that..lol

But hey, it look very good! I repainted a lot of parts, and it's pretty clean!

I have found some pistons, at napa autopart, 172$ for a set(4) I think it is a good price for them.. What do you think? and 225$ for the rings (compression & oil)?

I won't have to bore it too far.. I think.. just need to remove the little gap at the top of all 4 cylinders..

The hole for the oil return line is done...

The project continues!

You painted your block before getting it bored...?

172$ for the pistons sounds good if they are forged. The speedpro part number for the forged pistons I believe is L2500F. Is that what you're buying?

This place http://www.hi-performance.com/CHP/index.htm has the overhaul kit (rings, bearings, gaskets) for a little over $200. I've never purchased from them, so I can't speak of their service...

On the bolts, I don't think we need to replace the bolts on the early engines. The later engines (I'm thinking mid '90s Ranger) may be different, though.

I've been sandblasting/painting parts for my n/a engine for a while now, and I'm anxious to get it assembled and in the car. We need to hook up so I can give you the aux shaft pulley, and I can pick up your old turbo...

Dave

On edit: make sure you chase the threads on the head bolts, a few of them were rusted on the passenger side of the block.

yeah! I'm buying those.. L2500F is the right number.. are they okay? or it is crap?

Oh and for the gaskets, I prefer buying some from local autoparts, I'll try to get a fel-pro head gasket, I heard they are good hgaskets..And for the rings,.. I'll check :)

For the meet, just send me a mail.. and we'll try to fix a moment..

Most of the guys on TurboFord.org say the L2500F's are fine if you're doing a stock rebuild.

The killer head gasket for the 2.3 Turbo is Felpro 1035, but I think I'd use a "regular" gasket. I'd rather have a head gasket pop than melt a piston.

I'll e-mail you soon for a get-together.

Dave

I would have left the mains in the box until I was ready to put the crank in. Remember to clean them with a cloth and oil. Also if you don't have assembly lube put some gear oil 80w90 and put that on the mains, crank, etc... And in your pic of the hole, I see a nice little metal shaving, make sure non of those are in the engine. Please make sure everything is spotless, that's an important thing that shouldn't be overlooked.

I remember seeing my engine in that shape too... :)

bloop!

yeah! I have removed all the little metal shave, and I have moly grease, that's what the book told me to put on everything.. and the crank is in by now, I only need to torque it and mesure the Oil clearance, what I have some difficulty to figure out.. They told me to do it in 3 steps.. so I don't really understand what they means by their 3 steps.. lol that why I said I was stuck there for now..

I have the plastigage and everything..

Hey.. if you have already rebuilt an engine and you have nothing to do saturday around 6:00pm, come here and help me a little..
You'll get free beer :)

Give me 3 steps

When they say to torque in 3 steps they mean..
If the mains need to be torqued to say 95 ft.lbs.
you'd 1st torque to
1. 75 ft.lbs
2. 85ft.lbs
3. 95 ft.lbs.

Thats what they mean
