project WIFE'S 65 coupe....

OK, as I posted earlier, I just bought my wife a 65 coupe...the only trouble spot on her is one spot about the size of a quarter on the front of the the hood is rusted...but other than that, this car is ALL ORIGIONAL, minus a factory replacement 289. it has the auto in it.

What kind of stuff should I look for to re-fresh the suspension in this baby?

if you owned it, would you leave it all stock, or replace things like adding disk brakes, and chrome in the engine bay?

and where can i get good quality parts, that can be shipped USPS, since I am in the Army stationed in Germany, I do have a stateside mailing addie though

here are some pics of the car....and the wheels we got for it.

Good lookin' car. OK now tell us the truth, did you buy it for yourself and just tell the wife it was hers? :D

If it's all original you'll probably want to change a lot of the suspension. You can buy a suspension kit for the front end that has all the components that you need to change and you'll probably need to change shocks too. The back end looks like it may be a little low so you might want to put rear springs on it.

If it were mine I'd probably put some different wheels on it and dress up the engine bay some. Disc brakes with a dual reservoir master cylinder would be a good addition for safety. Since the car is original I'd keep all good parts that you take off so you could put them back on if you ever want to.

Good luck with your......... uh I mean the wife's car.

no, it really is her car...she has been dreaming of having a 65...the 97 I had was hers....it was mine, but when I was supposed to buy her an 06, I bought a built up 90 GT with a 331, twisted wedge heads, Vortech blower, and some other goodies....the rear was built up too...instead, so I gave her the 97.....we had to sell it to get this one. and I will be looking to get another fox.

we did get new wheels....look at the last pic.

yeah, disc brakes are a safety upgrade if anything....dont let these ultra-stock guys fool you...your not smart if you dont want to be able to stop your car.....

supsension is also almost a safety thing too.....

how is the steering? rack and pinion wouldnt be a bad idea since it wouldnt change the appearance of the car if thats what you even car about.

a 4bbl carb? not breaking any rules with that i dont think.....

3 point seat belts maybe?

refurbishing the interior and replacing the worn out stuff....im sure the arm rests and carpet areas where you put your feet are worn....it wouldnt kill anyone to make it look like new again by replacing them....etc etc....

how about dual exhaust?

so many improvements u can do without really changing the look of the car...

one more thing....i don owhat the weather is like in germany in the summer but if its hot, u could look into getting one of those reproduction air conditioning kits....

ok, maybe i dndt describe her perfectly....lol

she has dual exhaust with some flows...

the carpet was replaced about 4 years ago, along will all the trim inside.

I definatley dig the idea of rack steering...and braking is a must have over here in Germany..lol

i dont know what carb is on it yet, but i should have it in about 2 weeks, if all goes as planned with my friends re-deployment.

the summer's arent that hot over here, and kinda dig the 2-95 AC (i would say 2-55 but that would not work here...lol)

I do need to look for the exterior trim parts....where could i get those at a decent price?
