projector headlights

Hi all, I am torn between projectors and cobra clears, I was wondering if the projectors do in fact make things easier to see at night?

if you have a dark colored car go with smoked (with brighter bulbs of course)

if you have a light colored car go with clears.

i don't like the look of projectors.

some people i know told me that they don't make it easier to see because the light is concentrated at one point. i've never driven them at night so i don't have first hand experience.
