Find a secluded side road and practice there. First practice your launch 1st to 2nd then when you think you got that down cruise at about 20mph in 2nd and slam 3rd. Keep practicing 2nd to 3rd until you mastered it. Most beginners with manuals screw up 2nd to 3rd, so at every stop light try to shift up to 3rd quickly.

banging the 2-3 shift at around 4000rpms practicing is a good idea to start. that way if you miss (and you will) it'll not hit the rev limiter. this will help get your co-ordination down so you can try it full out. I miss not being able to do that to my car now. Stock I would all day every gear but with the blower I don't want to blow the tranny out of the car just yet. want to keep it in decent shape to sell for money toward a Tremec.

Missing a gear was a problem back in the day when you had nothing to keep the engine from spinning itself to death. If you miss a gear when you're powershifting, no harm is done, you just look like an idiot bouncing off the limiter when you should be in the next gear.

Like said before: Your right foot doesn't come off the floor until you hit the traps.

I don't know about practicing that on the street though, hitting the wheels with so much power like that.....you can really break the tires loose powershifting on the street. The only time I do it is at the track with my drag radials on, even with a hard shift lifting off the gas on the street, I spin through about half of second gear.

Yes, that makes a big difference. Made .4 - .5 tenths difference for me.
