So I'm trying to figure out what I want to do about pulleys and I have a few questions. My engine came with a 3 groove crank pulley and no belts. What are they all for? As far as I know I have the alt, water, and AC. I figured the alt and water pump both use the same belt. Which leaves another one for the AC, so whats the third for. Next question is I have an alternator bracket that has an idler pulley on it (pic included). What was that for?

That circled part is the A/C belt upper idler pulley (Ford added a second idler, just below the compressor and above the PS pump).

My 65 289 with A/C and power steering has a 3-sheave crankshaft pulley. The sheave closest to the engine is the alternator belt, the middle sheave is for the power steering belt, and the one closest to the radiator is for the wider and deeper AC belt. Non-PS cars may have run double belts around the alternator and water pump, I can't recall.
