pulleys??

ok so I was thinking about getting some u/d pulleys for my car I am just wondering...I just bought a new radiator, but I have the stock alternator and a fairly old battery...I am curious is it a bad idea to do the pulleys on my car for charging and cooling purposes or should I be ok (it has 90,000 miles)?

oh and which ones are better the mac ones of the frpp ones or do you get the same power out of any of em?

if you're worried about charging issues, then jsut dont put on the alternator pulley

I don't have any charging issues, I think its because of the 130amp alt that comes on the 94-95, but might be different if you have an aftermarket system that stresses the battery.

what about cooling...will it run much hotter?? cause with the power mods I got now I am starting to think about upgrading the cooling system (runs a little hotter than it did stock)

Maybe while sitting in traffic it might heat up just a little more, I never really noticed a difference. As far as brands go, I've only had one set, Mac, I would assume they would all give you the same amt of power increase, but I think you pay for the quality.( finish, chrome, ect..) I would assume mac is the cheapest and worse quality, but I've had them on my car for about 2 years, no problems.

the ASP are very high-quality, not to mention they only weigh .0000000001 pounds

I've got the ASP pulleys, and I run with the stock belt. The belt tensioner adjusts for the slightly different length.

as far as cooling and charging issues, the only time I notice any problem with charging is when I have the headlights on and the car is at idle. the lights in the gauge cluster dim a bit. of course, my idle is in the dirt at about 500 RPM. everything's fine by about 700-800RPM.
I haven't driven it enough to tell you anything about the cooling. it's fine at highway speeds. I have a Summit aluminum radiator, so that could make some difference, too.

charging and cooling will be fine w/ u/d pulleys, like they said before, you'll probably see it bog a little at idle with a bunch of accessories on. alot of people favor the aluminum version, less weight/rotating mass. I had steel pulleys for years, nice kick to em, never any cooling/charging problems, but ditched after I got my KB. Good luck man

Installed mine 2 years ago. No change at all in cooling or overheating problem and no charging prob either (stock alternator). Barely noticable increase in HP if any. No change in gas mileage. I did find it a bit smoother, but that is very subjective.

I bought my ASP aluminum pullies offa super302 and love them. Install is pretty painless and I haven't noticed any charging/heating issues - stock everything. Performance wise the car revs slightly quicker.

Well worth the money spent.

one guy on here lost 3 tenths in his quarter with the pulleys and another lost two tenths...is it really only barely noticeable gain??

I ran Mac for about 5 yrs...never an issue...as mentioned at idle the Voltmeter will drop a tad...
I got the cheapo Black Oxide ones...they will rust in one season and look like ass...if that matters....I had them powdercoated to solve that...Stick with Alum or anodized for a better bling...
I bought these March Ultra's this Winter....Nice set-up but pricey..like 165.00 pricey...

302fordracer...Really cant answer that one...pulley's and a Mac H went on at the same time and it was bone stock...It woke it up some thats for sure...But I really don't have numbers..

94SC50..Ya they are nice...Soon as i seen em i was all ga-ga over them...I wanted something new anyway...These happen to catch my eye before the ASP's so I got em...Plus you get that horny alt cover with em....
