I just bought a set of underdrive pullies and a a/c delete kit for my stang. My question is do I delete the a/c first before I put on the pulleys and will I need a new belt after I install the pullies? Also how hard is it to install and do I need any specila tools?
Thanks alot for all the help.

You will need a new belt if you take the ac out also. I put under drive pulleys on my car and took my out 15mins. i also put on a smog pump delete which just puts a pulley there so i can use the stock belt. About the tools you will need a impact gun to get the nut off the alt. Also if there is a shim under the nut make sure you put that under the new pulley when you go to put that back on the alt if you dont you can screw up your alt.

How much did the a/c delete cost you?

You can do both at the same time, you will definitely need a new belt.
The only special tools you should need are a set of SpringClamp tools.

Any good auto parts house should have them, mine were less than 15.00, and they work on the fuel system too.

Make sure your ac system is evacuated before you start, freon is heavier than air, a very dangerous situation if you release it in an inclosed area. Dont just dump to atmosphere, its bad for the ozone.

A/C delete kits are $42-47 bucks throught summit and jegs.

I use the March kit(42.00) its lighter, uses fewer parts, and you dont have to touch the power steering

Thanks for all the replies.
Is there a certain belt I need?
Black93, You said you did the smog pump too? Where do you live? I don't think I could do that here in CALI. the kit cost me 39.95$.
strracer, thanks alot. But how do I evacuate the a/c? You mean get all the freon out right? I will be doing it in my driveway. I will be getting the spring clamps soon too.

A A/C machine is needed to remove the Freon from the system, you cant legally vent the system yourself. It shouldn't cost much for a ac shop to suck it clean for you.

the a/c place should take out your freon for free....because freon (R12) is gold to them, they sell that stuff for a lot of money.
If your system was converted to R134, you can evacuate the system yourself.

If your ac still works why do you want to get rid of it?
The ac system doesnt use any HP when its not in use, and it shuts itself off at WOT. The only problem is the weight it adds, but there are other ways to lose weight. Removing it will greatly deminish the re-sale value.

If it does work, and you still take it off, I would be interested in buying the components from you.

blackfox...UGH i hate calling people by there username hah whats your name??..anyway diversified products has the FMS kit for like 35 bucks...its the cleanest/most factory looking kit. plus u wont have an idler pulley hanging there. i think u already have one for teh smog and u dont want too many hanging around if u can just get rid of it all together. he smog one isnt bad but an idlr pulley right up top just doesnt float my boat. ugly imo.

I agree!! The FMS kit is way cleaner looking than anything else out there. That's because they are the actual factory parts for a non-A/C car. I powdercoated mine before I installed it, looks sweet!!

FWIW the 100% best way (IMHO) to delete the a/c is by getting the p/s bracket from a non a/c car and using the factory non-a/c size belt. this will move the p/s up to where the a/c is and no UGLY idler pulley. this is probably the cheapest way too.

....just my opinion though.
