Purpose of Water Neck Bypass Hose

Im having some problems with this hose...will explain later... For now just want to know the purpose of the little bypass hose on the water neck and how important is it.

Well the barb on the Mr Gasket neck is a 5/8"...same as the WP.. The hose is a 5/8 to 3/4. I bought one that is 5/8 to 5/8 that is longer, but has the bend in it. I cut it to fit, but there may be just a slight crimp in the hose, but not enough to block flow...it just may be a little bit less than normal. Just wanted to make sure it wouldnt hurt anything. You will see tomorrow if you stop by...will be starting by NO later than 8:30 in the morning.

I had to replace that hose not too long ago. No one had i in stock so I used some regular non molded hose. Mine has a slight kink in it...I made it as short enough as possible so it was as slight a kink as possible...sounds like what your talking about.

I have not had any issues...I check it often as I am not 100% sold on it yet but I have not noticed any leaks or temp issues. Drove it monday and it was in the mid 90's with semi crap humidity (cool night time was 40+%). It never got over 192* even in stop and go traffic...stock radiator.

What I found was a complete 5/8" hose with a right angle bend in it. Im trying to cut each end so the bend lines up, but it will not be "exact". I dont see why that would cause a real cooling issue though....just want to meka sure it doesnt leak when it's all done.

Hooking it up today.
