Took my engine apart today and a few of the pushrods are severely worn about 3/4 inch long right near where the guide plates are. Was is bad rocker adjusting that would cause this? Any suggestions welcome. i can post pics if requested. Also how much play should there be in my timing chain? And does anyone run gear to gear drive im thinking of switching.

By the way you describe it, the pushrods seem to be rubbing excessively against the guideplates, correct? That could mean bad guideplate adjustment. By the way, you are using hardened pushrods, right?

how can u adjust the guideplates? they only go in one way, at least the ones I have and seen. Only thing i can think of is of theyre not hardened pushrods about the wear problem. is it just a few pushrods or all of them? If u got the time just put in a new timing chain and sprockets, i dont like the timing gears, and I have one, they sound cool at first, people think u have a blower, but Really sucks with the hood open, just too much racket and is a pain to find a vacuum leak or rocker tick etc.
