Put 110 Race Fuel In And Fixed My Problems!!!!

My 4v motor has be detonating/pingin everytime i floored it. First it wasn't bad but it got worse and worse. On thursday i raced my friends STOCK 5.0 on the highway. I gave him the hit and a car and it was taking me forever to pass him. When i floored the car it was popping big time like it wasn't gettin spark and the RPMs were going a little up and down as it climbed.

Anyway i beeped my friend on the nextel and told him to hit it again. I gave him the same advantage as the first time car and the hit. This time i didn't floor the car i slowly gave it gas and he didn't even look like he was flooring it.

Well i figured out that it only pops hard when i'm floored the hell out of it. I haven't done anything to the motor since i got the car back so i figured it was the cheap Clark gas i was puttin in. It most likely was watered down. I called a few friends and tried to figure out how to fix it. I figured race fuel would be the best thing to put in and some Shell gas.

I put 3 gallons of 110 and 5 gallons of regular 93. I let my friend drive and we went on the highway. He asked me, "if he could floor it," i told him go ahead. When he floored it, it scared the crap out of me, the car hit so hard and was gone. All the popping stopped and the car pulled harder than i ever seen in every gear.

Has anyone ever put race fuel in and how different did your car act?

I hope you don't have cats on your car.

No tune yet. Everyone i find in chicago that does tunes i'm afraid to take it to. I found on shop but they don't get there dyno for another month. I want to do the mail order tune but i have 19 pound injectors on the 4v so i really dont' feel like paying the money for the tune on those injectors. How much do mail order tunes cost anyway?

I'm running on stock 96 2v timing. The car has been fine since the race gas now if it does the popping once its all gone then i'm gettin a tune, doesn't matter what injectors i have. What do 30-36 pound injectors run these days with the mass air.

I don't have cats on my car either.

My cobra was doing the same thing, it only pinged when i really floored it. now, i just add a bottle of octane booster to about 1/4 or 1/2 a tank (93 octane of course) when in going to the track and it doesnt ping. I plan on getting a good tune, but for now the octane booster is alot cheaper and eaisier.

First off if your car is detonating your going to blow it up if you keep driving it like that. Especially if your car has non forged internals.

Second if your running 110 its probably a leaded race fuel and this will kill your Cats and also your O2 sensors.

If you don't want your car to sit forever again after it blows up get it tuned. You should never race a car that hasn't been tuned your just asking for it :nonono:

Gooddddd ok ok I'll get a tune!!! Ryan have you took your car to that place??? I don't want to pay for it and than have a crappy tune!!! What am i looking to pay. A lot of places are charging 500-600 dollars. Speed Ink told me they we'll tune it but its going to be about 600-700 dollars but they're not sure how good the tune will be since i'm using a stock GT computer.

I thought to myself F... that. I'm not going to pay 700 dollars for a half A.. tune that will blow my motor anyway. If that is the case its better to save that money.

Ryan if you want when i get paid i'll pm you and maybe we can hook up and go to that shop.

First, find someone putting on a blower and buy their old injectors. You only need 24's. The 19's are probably choking you a little. Secondly get a tune. There are many people who can do what you need. You spent all this money, and now you want to get stingy. Keep putting 110 in there and you'll be spending more money yet.

Mechanic told me that putting 1 gallon of 110 (unleaded) racing fuel and then filling up with regular fuel will clean out the entire injection system. He said it's essentially the same stuff as engine cleaner. However, engine cleaner isn't $5/gallon :)

Damn i just talked to my friend numbles about the tune and he said not to do it till i get the injectors. He told me the 19s only flow up to 290 rwhp. So he was like i can still blow the motor going up to 6800rpm. I was thinking of gettin 36lbs injectors what do you guys think? I want to spray the car too.

Yea you guys are right i'm kind of gettin cheap on fixing the damn thing. I don't have enough people pushing me because i'm beating a lot of cars. I just bought rims for the stang. I could have got the tune already.

Well how much race gas i put in and regular fuel i'm sure all i did was clean the fuel system. I'm not only going to put 110 in a stock motor running 9.85.1 compression.
