Putting a mechanical pump on a EFI Timing cover

I'm swapping a EFI engine over to carb, wanting to put a mechanical pump on, what parts besides a new pump will I need?? Also can the timing chain cover be modified to accept the pump???

Well to start the fuel lines are on the wrong side of the car so you have that to deal with. The fuel pickup is differnet however you could replace it with one that doesn't have a pump built on. Back to the engine. You will need a timing cover from a carbed engine any 5.0L up to 86 will work. HO and non HO engines are the same. You wil need the eccentric off the cam of the carbed engine. thats about all I think you need, the rest line fuel lines and such you can make.

The car I'm using is a 86 model 4 cylinder, not sure which side the fuel line is on , not looked yet. I do know that it's a carb car from the factory

factory 5.0L carbed cars the fuel is on the drivers side.

This is a 4 cylinder car, I'll look more into it tomm

Just use an electric fuel pump. Cheaper and far easier.

buy a cheap electric pump and a spool of 3/8 alum. line it makes life much easier!
