i have a 72 fast back that came w/ a 351c 4 speed and i belive 390:1 butt gears. i always had 295/50/15 on my 70 mach. and i got my hands on a beutiful pair of old shool 10" american racing coke bottles ( my absolute all time favorite wheels) w/295/50/15 bfg
i know i know there steam rollers. but i just cant resist trying to stuff them under my stang. they have a 3 1/2 back space .so first chance i get ill give it a try .but that wont be till the weekend . has anyone eles accoplished this heroic feat or am i dreamin?

I had the same size tire on 10" Magnum 500's on my old '71 without any fitment problems. However I had them custom made so I don't know what the backspacing was.

if i have to mabey ill tub it or swap rear ends . hopefully it wont be to far off so a combo of rolling the fender wells and swaping the rear with something a little shorter will do it. if not ill have to see if 275s or 255s will work .
i have a couple of sets of 8in and 7in coke bottles but i realy want to go w/the deeps. i used to run deep dish cragers on my 70 machs w/ 295s but i never actualy checked the offset. but thats been a while back. and i burned thru a few memory banks in the 70s so my memory aint what it used to be.
anybody got any advice . id love to hear it.

Let me rephrase.

15x10 wheel with 3.5 inch backspacing will stick out 2 or so inches past your fender (without rubber on it) if the wheel had 5.75 to 6 BS you would stand a much better chance. Unless you are planning on narrowing your rear end those wheels have the wrong backspacing no matter what size tire you put on it.

swap

well like i said i might swap rears .i was reading the 9in rear swap list sticky and it looks like a 65-66 rear might give me the extra room i need (57.25 vs 61.25)
has anyone done this swar in a big mustang?
or should i start searching for a narrowed rear?

I don't know how much BS you need to fit those rims, but you would gain some with 67-70 rear swap.
Not as much as if you use the early rear...
They are all interchangeable physically.

ok ive never tried to post pics here yet so lets see if i can figgeritowt
so we did a little tire swappin today and i used a set of old 200s ar's that had been painted red for a rat rod( same size same 3.75bs) they stuck out about 1.75past the outside of the fender . so it looks like the 65/66 rear swap will help alot according to the rear swap sticky( whoa that didnt sound right)
ok i tried to post and my pics are to big ,not sure what to do about that---
anyhoo, so if the 66 rear is a direct bolt in swap for a 72 then im all set .if i have to change spring pads and shock mounts then ...not so much. if some of you highly experianced post masters will give me nudge in the right direction ill try to show these wheels ( it'l be a laugh riot) those red wheels look pretty weird on my car.no o-fence to all you red wheel lovers out there ( you know who you are)
