I'm about to order an S&B filter for my Ebay cold air kit. I know the inlet diameter is 3.5", but what's the longest filter I can go with inside the fenderwell?

def. not too much room, the normal size filter they give u is a good size for in there.. anything bigger ur asking for rubbing..
Do u think I can fit a 7" one in there? This style filter is the one I'm ordering. Same as the one's from AndersonFordMotorsport

no f'ing way. I think the one that came with mine was like 4-5 in long and it is touching the inside of the fender.STREETFIGHTER50 said:Do u think I can fit a 7" one in there?

I better just go measure this ****. Here's a link to the filters I'm talking about. Look at the bottom left closely. Anderson's comparo:

I had my inner fender liner off this weekend replacing vaccum lines and remembered this thread so I figured I'd pull my old K&N out and line it up to see what's what. This is the K&N that fits in the stock airbox.
It would fit perfect if it had an adapter to stretch over the CAI. I had another 3 inches between the end of the filter and the fender in the last picture.

Stanger007 - nice... I forgot to reply back to this thread as well. I have a filter the size of the ones in those ebay kits. Only it is a K&N and has a larger opening so it will mount straight to my Pro-Flo M/A (looks like a stupid piece of exhaust made into a meter).
I fit the filter AND M/A in the fender with no rubbing.

I see you installed the shield on yours. I haven't messed with it yet. I just threw it in last night when I got it. Fit pretty decent actually. I don't think a 160$ BBK would be worth the extra 120$. Any pics from the top?
