Some say take them off, some say leave them on. I'm a "leave 'em on" guy.I had a lot of wheel hop without them when I removed mine last year.I installed 17x10 inch wheels out back and had to.Wheel hop was massive.I have since installed CHE tubular control arms and they fixed the hoppong issue. If they aren't in the way or hurting anything, leave them where Ford put them.

This topic has been beaten to death. if you search it you will gets tons of info on this and go from there. you can set up the rear suspension to run w/o them. som stang can get away with w/o them with just aftermarket lower arms some still have hop. bad hop can = loss of control.

replacing control arms is not a substitute for the quad shocks! This is absolutely the wrong thing to do and is a popular internet myth. While it is true that replacing control arms/bushings has helped wheel hop in some peoples case it has done absolutely nothing in others.

If you were going to eliminate the quads I would strongly suggest that you invest in a panhard bar and torque arm along with new upper and lower control arms. Of course with that set up you could probably take a corner at 50 mph and the rear end wont swing out on you but that is a different story altogether.

I agree with the last statement.I removed my quads because my wheels are too wide to allow them.I'll upgrade to either another way to mount the quads,or panhard bar. The rear comes around really quick in my car right now.Off the line,no traction......no wheel hop....but,squirrelly.

I don't know about the myth part and yep this has been beat to death but this formula has always worked for me with 4:10's and a 150 shot on 4 different foxes.

Everybody attributes wheel hop after removing the quad shocks to quality of the LCAs, but I think UCAs and the regular shocks have a lot to do with it, as well. The springs themselves, and maybe even the wheel/tire combo also probably play into it. Just like any system in the vehicle, it takes more than just one component to make it perform.

That said, I have Steeda HD aluminum lowers, the Steeda-modified Ford uppers, FRPP "B" springs and Strange adjustable shocks. I run the wheels you see in my sig, with 275 series tires, which forced me to remove the quads. While I haven't done a John Force asphalt melting burnout with them, I have spun the tires a few times on the street and this combo has seen the drag strip. I have NO wheel hop.

out of curiosity why did you remove yours? your tire doesnt look large enough to require removing them.

I ditched mine when I upgraded my rear end but only because the quads were absolutely thundered. I could compress them by hand and the had no rebound. Anyways, I went to the track the other weekedend and was banging off 1.95 60ft times with no wheel hop. I have 3.73s w Steeda lca and steeda adjustable uppers, stock shocks and struts with MT drag radials. I also have full length tubular subframe connectors. I also was not able to do much of a burnout as I don't have a line lock. On launch I'd have a little spin but no hop. Same on the shift into second, a little spin but then it would hook.

Just my car though, I imagine there are a zillion variables.

They were junk. I was intending to replace them with brand new ones. I just have not gotten around to ordering a set.

Since I don't race the car and just cruise around...it hasn't been an issue for me.

Just the few times I get on it, I get wheel hop.

I have brand new everything. New rubber axle bushings, new uca, new max motorsports lower, tokico shocks, c springs. Still hops

Everyones combo will be different
