I didn't through it in tech, didn't know if it was a tech question.

do all the gt have quads? I'm still learning about my mustang and the reason for the question is while looking for front end noise decided to check out rear, noticed a little shock attached to the top of the rear end goes at and angle to the body, has a small body a where it's mounted to the car and a long skinny shaft mouted the rear end. the car has new kyb's but this looks well worn, and it doesn't look like the shocks offered in the quad packs they look like a full bodied shock.can't find it listed seprate or what it is called. what ever it is it's gone the bushing are rotted out and the body of it is all bubbled with rust.

All 5.0's had quad shock. The tech term for it is "Axle Dampener"

okay, now that you say that, don't bother buying new ones. most places don't list them exept like 50resto and places like that. strype way to take advantage of a newbie, i feel abused lol.

so don't worry about it just leave them or remove them what do you guys do.

i would replace them. i ran without them and i got WHEEL HOP like crazy without and thats with control arms already installed ( which people say aftermarket arms will prevent it, it didnt for me)

both my street rims and tires and track rims and tires will clear flipped quads i bought a new set, 50$ for both from autozone, they have it listed as "steering damper"

when i put them on the wheel hop was gone.

wow...i really thought you were joking! AXLE dampener??????? That has to be a name that only "autopart stores" would come up with! They have some weird a$$ names for somethings! Around here i went in and said i need a crush sleeve for an 8.8 all 5 stores had no clue what i was talking about and then one guy goes.... "you mean a pinion placement sleeve?" I was like

yeah the extra shocks are actually there to dampen the axle (prevent wheel hop) so that term is actually correct

I would remove them and if you don't get any wheel hop leave them off. It should help launch traction (weight transfer) slightly as well. Learn by experimentation

If you do buy new ones and replace them, and later on you are needing to run wider tires, you can flip them around and they still work just fine.

I hope he comes back... Wouldn't want him to think I was messing with him, though it's not completely out of character
