Quadrant spacers...?

my upr quadrant didnt come with any spacers.

anyone know how much it needs to be spaced out to line up properly?

You shouldn't need any spacers to get it to line up....

let me re-phrase...to keep it lined up(the path of the cable to the firewall), its seems as though it could be able to slide to the left...or does the cale keep it in place?

Cable keeps it in place just fine. No problems with my UPR quad for almost 5 years now.

if you do not use spacers the quaddant will move side to side. i took mine out that someone had installed previously and it had worn a new groove in the quadrant Posted via Mobile Device

No it won't.

The only way it would do this is if your cable adj wasn't tight enough.

I've installed probably 15-20 quadrants over my fox years...never spaced them out once, never had one issue.

i dont know but mine definatly had a groove worn in it.. and there were no spacers installed.

Just installed my MM quad and it has several washers. I think it was 4 inside and 2 outside of the quad.

MM's quad does address this specifically by design, but honestly I think it's a little bit overkill. As stated, having the clutch cable too loose where it can move around and shift about will make it such that your quad can shift aside and thus you'll wind up with the funky wear pattern that can rub your cable raw. However, I've done 4 or so quad swaps on a few Foxes and never once has quad alignment become an issue at any point because neither I nor those whom I've helped install them on their cars like to keep their cable so loose that it becomes an issue. While MM does make and sell awesome stuff, I think in a case like this they tend to over-engineer things to where they're "fixing" issues that aren't really all that common or preventing problems that rarely (if ever) arise.

You could always spring for a MM quad if you're really that worried about it and just want the extra peace of mind, but unless you're actually experiencing alignment issues with your cable, then I would think it's completely unnecessary. As long as you're using a good (FORD!) cable and you have the tension properly adjusted, you shouldn't be having any issues.

I marked the place where the quadrant sat once I had it tightened, then loosened the cable up and put washers in, but only to ease my mind a little.

If the pegs are slightly out of whack or the quadrant has hole(s) that are too big, the quadrant can move or get cockeyed, thus allowing cable chafing. I won't install a quadrant without using spacers.

The OEM quadrant is located, and MM locates theirs via spacers.
