Many of aftermarket replacement timing covers have the mechanical fuel pump mount. I replaced the timing cover on my 89 5.0 Mustang with a Dorman product that came with a mechanical fuel pump mountI'd say that engine might not be original. The efi timing covers had no provision for a mechanical pump.
Why would a timing cover need to be replaced on the original engine?
Other then that is there any differences in the motor? Power or performance wise?
Corrosion from water pump leaks over the years? electrolosis from the coolant, physical damage? Someone had one all painted up nicely and wanted to remove the gunky original? Who knows
I'm just assuming the engine is from a later model fox due to the mechanical fuel pump being on it.

so my fox has a 5.0 in it and I'm pretty sure it's not the original engine. Is there any difference in the 5.0l that comes in the mustang verse the other 5.0l they out in trucks. My fox is a 1990 and I also noticed it has the old cam driven fuel pump on it but is not hooked up
