Question about CA Intakes

Im about to start adding some bolts ons on my mustang and im curious about CA intakes with so many brands out there.. Im sure u have tested many and one has to come out better than the other. Which one would u suggest i go with for the most HP gain . Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated

As far as improving your intake side just get a K&N drop in filter, and remove
the rubber silencer that goes into the fender well. Get a nice 70 or 75 mm
Throttle Body and an aftermarket Plennum. No need to waste $ on a CAI.

What do u mean by Drop in Filter? Just the end part of the filter? if u can send me a link im sorry starting to learn about these things now.

By drop in I just mean a K&N replacement filter. It will fit the stock canister,
as its exactly the same size as the factory paper filter. The K&N can be
cleaned reoiled and used over and over. Buy the K&N cleaning kit with the filter.

If you're gonna spend money, go with JLT. I will give them a positive review any day of the week, as will anyone on here that runs that setup.

I actually have fitment problems with my JLT. It contacts the shock tower and when the engine is running it makes a squeaking sound as it vibrates and rubs against it.

I'm running a KB s/c though, so the OP probably wouldn't have this problem... anyone else experience this, either n/a or otherwise?

The cobra cold air intake should fit the KB unit a bit better than the stock GT intake. What do you think of the unit itself though? I was very impressed with the quality, performance, and clean look of the kit.

CAI = 5whp @ $200 = $40 per wheel horse power

Nitrous = 100whp @ $600 = $6 per wheel horse power

do you see my point?

K&N brags 7 rwhp on an automatic car, but again, $250+ for 7 rwhp isn't worth it to me.


Gear and a higher stall, if you have an auto will take an honest .5-.7 off in the 1/4 mile...

Gear alone is at least .3 and maybe better depending on many other factors.

yea man the cai is pretty much a waste of money the stock one is ok just swap out the filter, just dont rush into buying one, unless you have $$$$ to waste, and keep lookin around for a used one, i got a bkk of ebay for 50 bucks and with i little cleanin it looks brand new. thats what i did. but yea get the gears asap you wont be dissapointed

If you go CAI, look for one that looks nice.
Bottom line is, the gains will all be the same within 1 hp lol, so you might as well look for the one that's better looking.

Attached to the air filter canister, there is a rubber tube thing that goes into the fender area. Yank that off. It acts as an intake silencer and somewhat restricts flow. You'll notice a new growl when you stomp on it, and maybe 2-3 more horsepower.
