Question about checking MC pushrod length

I got to reading posts through search, and I notice everyone harps about the booster pushrod not engaging the MC plunger fully. I'm wondering if this is related to my problems in my post about my power brake conversion issues (soft pedal, and no pedal return).

My questions:

With new stock 68 booster, power brake pedal, and MC, is this an issue?

If so, how do you measure if the length is right or not?

And finally, if it is too short, what's the best way to lengthen it? I don't remember noticing that it was adjustable.

I don't know about a 68, but I was told that on a 65/66 that you needed to get an adjustable rod to take up the slack. Got mine at VA Mustang and it is waiting to go in the car.

I just went to their catalog and looked at it. That doesn't look like it's made to go on a setup with a vacuum booster (power brakes).

Am I wrong?

I got an adjustable push rod for my Granada swap. I ended up wishing I hadn't. It would have been easy enough to just convert my existing push rod into an adjustable one. You just need a die and an internally threaded hex shaft.

The MC should have info regarding the maximum brake travel. You should be able to measure how much travel you have currently. Just get up under the car with a piece of cardboard. Mark the min/max locations (the max would be when the pedal bottoms out on the floor) and measure your travel. If you need more travel, you can lengthen the pushrod. Then your starting position will be higher.
