So, we are going to go ahead and put the Ford GT pump in...but I need to know if the gas filler neck stays were its at, and you pull the end of it out of the gas tank itself....OR if your drop the tank and the whole neck comes down with the tank? I removed the 3 screws in the trunk, and the 3 in the fuel door. I just dont want to tear anything up because the gas cap neck looks to be the same size as the hole, and were arnt sure if it will come through or not.

Thanks! (Iv looked around and only thing I found was the cobra tank swap info....they pulled the filler neck out of the gas tank)

What three screws in the trunk??

Basically what I did was remove the screws by the gas cap, removed the two retaining straps, removed the fuel filter connection, and lowered the tank out slowly. If you lower it from the drivers side first, you can see what the filler neck is doing so you don't break anything - it's pretty self explanitory.

You'll want to loosen the screws for the neck. Don't forget the lil one on the tank itself to the filler. then slowly drop it and slide the filler out.
It's best to have the filler neck as loose as possible making it easier to put it all back together.

BTW good luck, hope you don't have the fuel guage issues I've got since my swap.

^ You must have bent the float :( .

So to make sure I have this right.
So I dont have to pull the neck out of the gas tank itself, the other end of the neck in the fuel door pulls down and comes out of the fuel door box to give the tank slack? I guess once we get in there and do it, it will be simple.
Only problem is that I have a FULL tank of gas LOL...so I guess I can drain that via the fuel filter.

Oh and one more thing....is there a special tool I need to get the fuel filter and fuel line off with?

^^ I found it alot easier to pull the neck outta the tank.
I've used several types the cheap plastic fuel line disconnectors seem to work ok. Not like you'll be doing it everyday.
Full tank. Hope you got strong arms or are a pro with a jack. Really drain it get as much out as you can.

Nah the float floats and goes down to the bottom of the range. Even though the battery was disconnected think the sending unit itself may have gone bad. Since what most have told me is to buy the entire mustang gt basket to get that part and it is more than what I paid for the svt pump. I haven't felt like messing with it.

Great, thanks....I think we may try that then. Atleast we have some options anyways :)
Ill have to look again, but my exhaust is in the way and I couldnt see a bolt holding the filler neck into the tank itself. Looked like it was just seated with a rubber seal in there....best thing may be to lower it a bit so I can get to the bolt, then pull the neck out of the tank.

So you are driving with your fuel gauge not working at all? Man scarey

Yea I basically have done all of the fabrication to the SVT basket that im going to put in place of the GT one. All we need to do is solder new connections onto the wiring so I can plug in to the GT pump....other than that its ready to go. :nice:

Unless the SVT focus basket wont fit HAHAHA.

remember you can't use the focus float assembly. Also the baskets did look different to me.
the bolt is on a bracket that holds the filler neck into the rubber part. There is also a plastic tip on the end of the filler neck. Mine popped off the 2nd or 3rd time I had the tank out. Made me mad threw it in the garbage. Hey figured it was weigth savings. :D

As for the gauge no big deal ever 200miles I stop and put gas in.

Woa didnt see that post.....why wont it work? SO your saying that I need to transfer the GT float and bracket/sensor to the focus basket?

Oh and I revived this thread to ask something else... HOW DO WE DRAIN THE GAS OUT OF THIS THING? I have a full tank and cant get the gas out of it before we drop the tank. We tried to use the fuel pump to pump the gas into a gas can, but it works for less than a second when you turn the key ON and then shuts off :nonono: .
I can see that its going to tak a LONG time to refill the lines...

You can jumper the fuel pump so it runs continuously in to a bucket, or you can get the orange siphon from autozone.. it has a long enough hose to push past the "anti siphon" thingy. Some people say that ours can't be siphoned.. but I've done it on mine several times.

^Thanks bud, ill go by there tomorrow and buy that :D . Is it just super small? We have some VERY long 1/2 inch or so hose and it will NOT go all the way in....it just stops no matter what you do and RIGHT before the gas.
