Question about Eibach drag launch springs?

I have a question about the ride height of the eibach drag launch springs. I have a 89 mustang gt and the previous owner of the car had lowering springs AND cut them too, the K-member would hit manhole covers....not kidding. I figured that the intrax 2" drop springs would raise the car enough off the ground, it did...until installed long tubes. I have done the 351 conversion on the car, and i installed Hooker super comp 2" primary headers with the 3.5" collectors (its on a dart blocked 427 with 225cc brodix track 1's). From what i can tell, they have the headers drop down even lower than usual LT's for the collector to clear the trans crossmember. I only have about 1" clearance under the header collector. I have a set of Eibach drag launch springs that are going to go on the car, do you guys think that they will lift the car off the ground far enough to get adequate clearance for the headers? This car is not a DD and just a weekend cruiser/track car. Sorry so long winded but i wanted to explain it the best i could. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I have been told that those drag springs actually don't lower the car at all. They are very close to stock ride hieght.

You can see here they do not list a drop at all with there drag springs in either front or rear.

Great man thanks a lot. I should have checked the eibach website first. The car has skinnies on the front and i think that adds to the drop. I really appreciate your help!

I got drag lunch spring and they work like crap. it raised my 86. it looks like a mac truck it sets too high in the front and it raised the car about 2 inches in the front and 1 inch in the rear

You probably had lowering springs in it before right or atleast bagged out factory coils? Now you should be sitting at factory ride hieght again.

The Eibach drag springs on mine kind of make it sit with an almost backwards rake - the front's a tad higher than the rear. (But I'm running stock-sized tires in front and rear.) It looks a little bit goofy, but it squats pretty well when you take off (it's just the rest of my rear suspension that's garbage). Go ahead and throw in a set, and maybe add spring isolators to 'em (if they're not already there). A set of fat rear tires should make up for the front end height just fine.

The ride on these springs isn't very soft, but I've ridden in far stiffer-suspended Mustangs, so they're nothing terrible. They handle well enough ... but then, I'm only running 15's and stock sway bars/bushings, so I'm not much into the corner-carving thing right now.

You could also cut out a coil in the fronts so it doesn't sit up as high Couple here here have done that and liked it better

I'm sure with the larger 351W running the dart Block it won't sit too high in the front.

Yea, i am not sure of the weight difference between the dart and a standard 351 block. I figured that the ride was going to be really soft, but as darkwriter stated i guess they wont be that soft, which is actually great because i have less of a chance of the headers scraping. I am hoping that it still looks ok with them on there, but i will just have to live with it to save my headers. Thanks for all the replies!

no had stock springs in it when i sold it. now I bout it back and in has the drag lonch spings in it my stock springs were never cut. car lunched great before. has any one seen pink with the caprie in it it is running on stock suspention and a saw him run a 9.85 last sat

well I guess you did have bagged out factory springs then.

I got mine installed, and the car does sit higher, but it doesnt look bad at all. The ride isnt that bad either, and it got my headers far enough off the ground. Should launch real nice, but i think it will look better with a set of normal wheels and tires instead of the big n littles.

no had stock spring in it before i sold it the when i bought the car back it had drag launch springs on it. it at stock suspention now the car gos 1.45 to 1.41 60 foot at the track thats on all stock suspension

i have a set of drag springs, they are the moroso trick springs but they are very similar to the eibachs.

i have only installed the front so far, they are really easy to install. for a week or so the back of the car sit up a big higher than usually. then it settled back down to factory height.

i tried to install the front springs, they are STIFFER and TALLER than the factory front springs, i couldnt get them installed myself, i tried different methods, the springs was just too tall to get in without using a fancy compressor, which i didnt have lol.

so i am going to cut a coil off and take my car to a shop and have them put in, i have heard alot from my friends that drag springs installed out of the box will jack the front end up some and they had to trim them.
