Question About Engine Leak Stuff!!

I have a small oil drip from somewhere underneath, side opposite the filter. I checked the connection from the Vortech drain hose to the pan, and changed the hose itself...doesnt seem to be coming from there. When I clean it off and let the car run 10+ minutes on the jack stands, I dont see ANY dripping. After I drive it and park it, there is a dime-size pool that only builds up for day... (DOESNT LEAK WHILE SITTING)...

Need to know what it could be....I see a bead around the bolts of the oil pan on that side only and some spots where it dripped/sprayed while moving.

I thought about oil pan gasket ($$$ to fix) or front main, even though I dont really see any oil in that area.

If I cant find source for now, is it ok to use a bottle of engine oil stop leak stuff?

Thanks

Rob, are there any spots above where you see the drips on the oil pan?

Obviously (and I'm sure you realize this too), oil is going to fall from the high spots to the low spots. If it's no higher than oil pan, and it's leaking right around the seal, I would think that it's the OPG.

If you can, feel around the back of the balancer on the crank snout and see if any oil is sprayed on there. That could give you an idea of it's the front main or not.

Not jumping to conclusions or anything, but changing an OPG isn't bad at all. I did one a few months ago in a 5.0 Crown Vic and the key to dropping the pan was jacking the motor as high as it'll go. With all the guys you've got down there, it could be another one of those "afternoon projects". ;)

Good luck.

doesnt seem to be around the balancer. Doesnt seem to be higher than the pan.

I put a blue oil drain hose, and there is a "left to right" oil line pattern running in line with the nipple that's tapped in to the pan. BUT...doesnt seem to be wet around that tapped area. It's almost like there may be a small hole where it's tapped, and it Squirts out when the car is running, except that there shoul be no increase in pressure in that area there.

Why no additives Joe (first)? (I tried calling you today.

Have you tried running the car for longer, giving it gas and letting off a few times first while on the jack stands, to see if you can spot it? Rev it up a few times.

^^^ So you arent RC.... HMMMmmm, sorry for the hijack your really bugging me.

So you said its dripping down where you tapped your oil pan for the blower, but you dont see any on the pan? Could that be the hose thats leaking?

Let's put it this way:

By my describing it, the first response would be: " check where you tapped the oil pan"

Now...I have replace the fitting once already and used RTV around it... I cant see any visible gap in the RTV.

I also changed the stock drain hose to a blue one so I could see better any "trail marks" running on the hose.

As far as "mystery dude" Im sure it's just some bustin our chops...I wouldnt let it bother you...I kinda think it's funny...as long as it's not someone cursing or degrading us or anything like that.

Hmm try like taping a rag around where its tapped and if its oily on the inside you know its your tap, if its on the outside somettihng is leaking on it. Just an idea

The "concept" sounds good, If I could get it to work...kinda cramped up in there.

NObody else has a comment here?? What about the Engine stop leak stuff?

I wouldn't buy into it. I put some in my daily driver (94 4.6 T-Bird) and when I told my old man his first response was "why did you waste your money?"

I wish there were some kind of way you could pressurize the oil pan to see if the gasket really does leak...
