I was wondering if I could get like a 99 explorer lower intake and a 93 or 94/95 cobra upper intake.
Would this work better than an explorer all around? or is it better just to buy an entire cobra intake?

Also has anyone ever ported their own intake?

I bought a lower Cobra Intake that was already ported off of ebay, I also bought an upper explorer intake off there, they seem to work well together but I am still using the stock thorttle body so I only gained about 15 hp, now with a new tb i should gain at least 10-15 more. Still the bottleneck is these stock heads tho, new heads = sweetness. They are basically the same intake anyways, the flow numbers are very very close, so ethier way it will be just about the same.

I am wanting to go with a turbo, sometime down the road. I was just wanting something that will help me get a little faster. I was just trying to save some cash by buying stuff from the junkyard.

If you're gonna go with a Turbo, dont skimp on parts now. You'll be in for a disaster.

I just had my stock cobra lower ported by Tmoss, comes back on Tuesday. Will take me a couple of weeks before I put it back on b/c I'm getting it Jet-Hot coated.

There is no practical difference in the performance of the GT40/Cobra/Explorer intakes in stock condition.
