question about figuring gas mileage

well first things first.....the car has a 650 holley spreadbore carb with mechanical secondaries and a 3.90 gear. the speedo is off by fast by about 8 mph. but the other day when i drove 150 miles back to my hometown i got 21 mpg and on the way back to my apartment i got 22 mpg. i know its not a legit number because my speedo is off but its got to be fairly close. with the edelbrock carb i had on there and 3.55 gears and the speedo being off by like 4 mph i was getting 13-14 mpg on the highway. i really need to get my speedo fixed so its correct and recheck my mileage. im hoping it isnt too far off from what it comes out to now though. does anyone know what speedo gear i need? i think its a 23 tooth gear but im unsure because ive got a 21 tooth gear now and thats what i had with the 3.55 but i needed a 20 tooth for the 3.55 and it was fast also. kinda wierd....thanks for any help or input and sorry for the long rambling post....oxycodon does wierd things to my brain

edit: just checked, i thouht i remembered them saying which one was for which gear but they only give you a tooth count.

yeah i know...i just dont know which one. i can get one through work but me and my boss couldnt figure out which one i need

yeah...thats the problem....no body makes a 22 tooth speedo gear. and ive got a 21 tooth gear in it now. but a 23 will make my speedo off the other way. what a pita

When i had my knee surgery i flushed them down the toilet. I've had friends die from that stuff and had other friends get so addicted it has ruined their lives. I hate that stuff with a passion

OT but I feel the same way about it as you guys. I really don't want to get addicted to that stuff, but my doctor gives me vicodons for sore throats lol... And Hydrocodone (sp) for a cough lol. I just save them for when it gets cold out and my back starts hurting from a wreck I was in a while back.

wow....you must have a vicious cough or a crazy ass doctor. this is the first time ive ever been prescribed any sort of pain killer like this. i had a torn rotator cuff and had to have my arm in a sling for 4 weeks and the doctor gave me motrin and i tore a muscle in my back that kept me from bending over because i couldnt stand back up because of the pain and the doctor told me to take advil
